Hi all-

Fresh install of XP12. Two questions only at this time. I see ORBX has lotsa XP11 sceneries/regions but none for XP12. Is there a way to shoehorn these in? Also, is everyone good with X-Camera? I went through their tutorial this morning and it looks good. Thought I would ask prior to buy.

Cheers, Mark

IIRC XP11 sceneries should "just work" in 12, but new features such as seasons & 3d water related aspects need new versions.

I believe ORBX are working to get their stuff updated, UK regions already are & if I had to guess the rest are coming as well.

I don't use X-Camera but there is a new physics based camera system coming probably in 12.2.0.

Xcamera is very good, easy to use, and if you use trakir, has that as well, But before you go adding stuff that potentially might crash xplane, copy the whole clean install folder somewhere as a back up, than you never need to reinstall again.

?? Wat? There's quite a few 12-only scenery packages.

Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

There are definitely some XP12 sceneries available on Orbx. And to be fair,  they aren't the only game in town. If you're flying in the UK, Boundless has some nice sceneries.

As for X-Camera, it's a great add on. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

I have X Camera for both XP11 and XP12. Well worth it. You can achieve a lot of what it does with regular quick views. What X Camera can do is have Track IR active or not per view. I no longer use Track IR but that's why I bought X Camera. It's the second most useful thing evah! after X Organizer (and sliced bread and the wheel, obvs).

Orbx had GB True Earth on sale last month for XP12 (about £8 per region rather than £30) so I snapped them up. Orbx seems to be concentrating on airports rather than wider sceneries these days. In my view, this is because of MSFS and that non-airport scenery is pretty much okay in that sim.

You need to have the particular sin installed in order for it to be visible in Orbx Central.

Just chuck  'em in XP12's /Custom Scenery folder. (Symbolic links or a regular shortcut will also work.)

Install the demo version or bare-minimum version of X-Plane 11 (or I think the 12 license key works in 11 as well) and then point the Orbx Central app to X-Plane 11 and install whatever you want. Once done, you can simply move the packages out of the X-Plane 11 Custom Scenery Folder into 12 and uninstall X-Plane 11 and mostly it'll work fine

All scenery somewhat works (but of course will not be using X-Plane 12 features such as the trees and water).

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'll get X-Camera later on this morning.
