DA40 asobo

I have a problem with the nose wheel steering. It used to be ok. But now if I turn rudder, the plane does not turn. Only turns when I use differential brakes... Or maybe there is a switch turning on/off nose wheel steering? But don;t think so... The same problem occured with sws DA42... Or maybe there is another plane in Community which conflicts? Any ideas? Thank you

not sure this is related to your issue (can very well be a conflict somewhere in MSFS community folder or wacky controls assignment)

But...
The DA40 can be a pain to taxi especially at low speeds since the nosewheel is free castering, like a shopping cart wheel.
There is no direct linkage or bungee cord to help steer the nosewheel like in a Piper or Cessna.
instead you will use differential brakes and/or apply short bursts of power in order to make the rudder more effective.

Another side effect of this design is the nose will at times vibrate during takeoff roll as you accelerate past 40-50 kts because the nosewheel is losing contact with the tarmac and wiggle violently. To mitigate this, I will unstick the plane as early as I can and keep the nose slightly off the ground. Some pilots apply nose down stickforce, but that's just setting yourself up for a prop strike IMHO.

If you downloaded the mod for the DA40 on 'Flightsim.to', castering steering is modeled to reflect the real aircraft.

that is probably the case

DA40 uses free castering steering as far as I know - I haven't flown a real DA40 but have flown similar airplane with free castering steering.  They can be tricky when taxing on ground as you have to use variable amount of power/differential braking for steering. But it just the matter of getting use to.
