September 27, 20241 yr Moderator I appreciate this airport was designed for FSX and P3D up to v3 but does anyone know if the bleedthrough can be corrected? See attached image. Whilst the runway numbers are visible the texture is missing as is the taxiway ones. I've edited the AFCAD to adjust airport altitude and the feet of the avatar just touch the ground so that appears correct. No one else has done Rio and its long runway makes it ideal for heavies. September 27, 20241 yr Author Moderator I remembered @blaunarwal’s post about fixing these type of problems. I looked on his site for SBGL but sadly it wasn't listed. I’ll try what he suggests in his pinned topic. Fingers crossed! 🤞 Ray (Cheshire, England). September 27, 20241 yr Some suggestions: Have you tried setting the BGL for the underlying photoreal off (not sure if there is one but sometimes that does the trick)? Also, new terrain polygon might sometimes do the trick. Worst case scenario: tweak the AFCAD and add your own runways/taxiways (not the best solution but worked quite well for me for the Aerosoft Dublin airport in P3Dv5). 🙂 i9 14900K / Corsair Nautilus RS ARGB liquid CPU Cooler / MSI Z790 Tomahawk WiFi / 64GB Trident DDR5 RAM @ 7200 mhz / 24GB Gainward 3090 Geforce RTX / 2 TB SSD WD Black SN850X NVMe / 1 TB SSD Samsung 990 Pro series / 2 TB SSD Samsung 980 Pro Series / 500 gb and 250 gb SSD Samsung Evo 850 / RM1000W Corsair PSU - P3Dv5.4, X-Plane 12, X-Plane 11 and FSX
September 28, 20241 yr Author Moderator @Blasb,thanks for the suggestions but I don’t know how to do any of that. I can correct many of the issues in Fault Finder but that’s it really. I’m hoping Dan can solve it as he has done for so many other airports. Ray (Cheshire, England). September 28, 20241 yr There is some interference with Paulo Ricardo SBRJ. It adds nice freeway bridges to Galeano but has also sat-view files. After having problems with trees on apron, autogen where it shouldn't be I did a fresh install into the Prepar3D program directory, like suggested by the installer. Don't like installing into Prepar3D but sometimes it's better. So I went on and tried it. Anyway, after switching scenery to the new installed, it works perfectly. I still need to try if I can move it outside Prepar3D v5 directory into my addons drive keeping it working. I guess it has to do with the installation. I may have installed it outside Prepar3D before. I used the .exe from TSIM-SBGL2016_P3Dv2v3.zip and then the updating .exe in TSIM-SBGL2016_P3Dv2v3_Update.zip. So no need for my afcad for this but of course, I will produce a better afcad than Tropicalsim. If one has both sceneries, there's a mix of the bridges alongside the Galeao island. Also Paulo Ricardo Rio has sat images of SBGL. I disabled these files: ...\TropicalSim\SBGL2016\Scenery CVX_sbgl16_fsxbrd.BGL sbgl16_fsxbrd_EXT.BGL in sbgl2016_p3dplacers.BGL i had to remove part of the hanging bridge ...\PauloRicardo - MegaRiodeJaneiro P3Dv5\Scenery 000_GaleaoArea.bgl 000_GaleaoArea2.bgl When I get the afcad finished, i will publish it. It will be more accurate as always but it's not needed to fix the scenery appearance. I also install usually everything into F:\flightsim addons\.. and the sim is in F:\program files\lockheed martin\prepar3d v5 I have several sceneries from Tropicalsim. They are all outside Prepar3D v5. Maybe it's not the folder, but just the fresh install. Maybe the update didn't install correctly, if not in the default folder (prepar3d v5) I don't know this since to find out, it required a lot more testing and since it seems to work in v5 without any mods, i won't further investigate this. My advise is only, reinstall the scenery, install it where the installer wants it. Don't forget the update. You can still move it after update into C:\P3DAddons\TropicalSim\ and change the entry in the scenery.cfg to this. I expect it to work that way. But to be sure, go this complicated way. If it still does not work, it has to remain in the Prepar3D v5 directory. I also made the experience, installing into Prepar3D v5 enables the installer to copy effects and Global textures into the right directories. After installing, the scenery itself can be moved to another storage. The other way round you have to care for effects and Global textures to be moved into Prepar3D v5. Some installers can do all that for you, but not all. So always check if it created new directories like effects, world\, sound. or Global\... September 29, 20241 yr Author Moderator Bingo!!! Solved. The install screen makes it clear it must be loaded to the default P3D folder. Thereafter it creates a TropicalSim folder with SBGL folder under that. The only other scenery I have in that structure is TAPA. But what is also odd is it didn't create entries in scenery.cfg. Once I did that the airport now looks as it should. Thanks for your help Dan. Ray (Cheshire, England).
