Hold Short for Inbound Traffic

Featured Replies

Departing from a busy airport YMML. I was kept holding short for inbound aircraft. I set my AI Traffic Separation for 30 sec thinking I am bound to get a Take-off clearance. I use Live Traffic plugin and it was showing inbound separated by about 4-5 miles. Finally I just took off and ignored P2A.

Try turning down the traffic volume.  If there is a landing aircraft on the runway, P2A has to wait until it clears also.  You won’t get a line up and wait unless final is clear because there’s no way to tell how long the traffic will be on the runway, blocking your takeoff.

It really shouldn't be until the landing traffic clears the runway for the departure to get lined up assuming there's enough spacing on final between the arrivals.

That's correct. But the program has to add additional time, so the 30 seconds get longer.

At any rate, I will have a look at the logic to see if there is anything that can be done on the code side.  In the meantime, I suggest you see if decreasing Traffic (Increasing spacing) has a positive effect on the situation.
