Paid aircraft License 2020/2024

Featured Replies

This may have been answered already but how will the licensing work for paid aircraft, weather, etc applications work when installing on 2024? Do you have to uninstall the 2020 version? Will you have to buy another license for 2024? I assume each developer will be different?

Chris Chiozza

If you point an installer for a 2020 aircraft at 2024 and it works, I bet this would break the product in 2020 and vice versa.

A2A have indicated that the Comanche works in 2024 but not whether it would work in both at the same time, you'd have to take your pick until the developer re-designs their product.

There will be separate 2024 and 2020 Community folders, said Jorg,

I take that to mean that a plane altered to fly in 2024 will reside in the 2024 folder. Or an unaltered 2020 plane that you want to fly in 2024 must also be located in the 2024 folder. The original version remaining the 2020 folder. And thus you can fly either version of the same plane. Lots of scenery, planes, etc. will have two identical copies, one in each community. The duplication taking up more space on the drives. I'm guessing all this to be true.

I guessing this. If you have 550GB in 2020 community. Then you will probably copy all of that over into the new 2024 community. Making 1.1 TB of data on your drive. Some few things in the new 2024 folder may not work and you would gradually remove them while waiting on a fix, and then restore them when the fix comes in. Eventually you may remove 2020.

I'm also guessing: You have 600GB in Official and 350GB of that is airports, planes, POIs, WUs and such. You fire up 2024 and in content manager you restore all that you owned in 2020 which is 350GB. You now have 550 GB and 350GB times two or 1.8TB total on your drive.

EDIT: no, I'm not right about the above because the 350GB in official will move to the cloud. So the total would be (two Communities) +350GB (2020 Official), which is 1.1 TB, not 1.8TB.
