  1. They wanted to use the Douglas DC-4 from the original movie (Zero Hour) but the studio refused, so they just used the engine sounds instead :)
  2. A couple of nice features of Chaseplane is you can set a realistic FoV in each aircraft without needing developer mode (except once to get the zoom value), and it remembers the aircraft's view settings even if you remove and re-install the aircraft or sim (they're stored in the cloud.) I also added FSRealistic+ and love it (with touchdown comment disabled)

  4. I've been using Navigraph since 2006 (when it was called nDAC and you purchased credits).
  5. Search for the Wilder Blean Project - a herd of bison is currently thriving near Canterbury in the UK.
  6. Nothing in life is free, so I'd never ignore free advice from an expert unless acting upon it ate into my profit margin 😉
  7. I have 8 axes and 93 buttons on my controllers, which I use forGA and airliners. The airliners also have FSUIPC assignments which overlap the same function in GA aircraft. Throw in different sensitivity settings for each aircraft, specific aircraft controls, custom views, add-ons, etc. I have developed a complex set of profiles so all this works flawlessly and it took a bit longer than 10 mintues :)
  8. I screen shot or write down every setting. I'd have a breakdown if I had to rebuild all my controller profiles from memory.
  9. Controller Settings FAQ – Microsoft Flight Simulator Support This should get you started, there is a significant learning curve to work out the logic. Top tip, sensitivity settings are stored in the 'General Controls' profile, but you set them by clicking on the controller's settings cog.
  10. I just watched a recent recording I made of a low level flight over SE England, thinking it would prove you wrong. There is a 'brown circle' surrounding the aircraft, you can pick green fields in the distance and watch them slowly turn brown as you get closer. It's quite subtle so I've never noticed it before. A warning to others, once you see it you won't be able to unsee it. I'm running 1440p on a 5090, so my settings are pretty maxed out. Have you tried without any add-ons loaded?
  11. Maybe related to this? Xbox says it’s aware of ‘major outages’ when signing in and launching games, and is ‘working to mitigate the issue’ | VGC
  12. Inspired by a recent ride in a Warrior II, I bought JF's model (currently 50% off) and a bunch of GA airports from Burning Blue designs. I've spent a few summer evenings flying VFR around the UK using steam gauges and radios - very relaxing after a day in the office. For me, most of the fun is learning how a new aircraft works, so even if I don't fly it that often (or at all) I still feel like I've got my money's worth :)
  13. I'm not sure whether the aircraft models are too sensitive to control movement, or the controls are too sensitive to controller movement. Without changing the sensitivity settings, I can fly aircraft normally in MSFS without moving the joystick, I just need to apply a slight pressure. I've compared MSFS to IL-2 before where control is linear and 'natural', but I got 'shot down' for comparing MSFS to a combat sim 😉
  14. I checked my settings last night and they are: Ailerons -0.5, Elevators -0.75 for GA & -0.5 for airliners, VKB Rudder -0.5 I don't use Windows calibration and the VKB calibration is default with full, linear movement of the joystick. As mentioned, I don't have to change sensitivity settings in other sims, and this is the third controller I've used in MSFS where I've had to heavily damp the sensitivity to get the controls how I like them.
  15. My VKB Gladiator has 0 dead zone, ailerons axis to -50, elevators to -75. With default sensitivity, moving the joystick from centre causes excessive control movement, only a slight pressure is required. I've used two joysticks and a yoke in MSFS, and all of them required the same heavy dampening. IL-2 works fine out-of-the-box, you can use the full range of the joystick without requiring 'S curves'.
  16. This was my first thought when background updates were mentioned.
  17. AI is being used by hackers to breach cybersecurity, and by cybersecurity analysts to prevent breaches. One example is both Google and Mozilla have recently used AI to find many high-severity security flaws in their browser code. Businesses are using AI to create apps, bots, and agents, and to automate processes; these all reduce human involvement and save them money. Love it or loathe it, AI is here to stay.
  18. BATC works fine with a full SimBrief flight plan including SIDs and STARs. BATC will descend you to the altitudes in the STAR. This makes it straightforward to manage energy using VNAV, and cope with a late instruction to descend. The same with the approach. If BATC gives me a tight angle to intercept the ILS, then I use LNAV / HDG to perform a smooth turn onto final before engaging APP - this avoids S turns. I record my flights, so I can review a failed approach. Usually, it was a mistake I made.
  19. Leftis posted on 30th May that FSL are working on an update that includes performance improvements, however he also posted on 11th June: "The performance improvements will come when the modeling turns to 2024 native mode - a longer-term process which I've discussed in the past if you read my previous texts. I will, however, say that the most notable improvement will be if you up your RAM to 64GB which will feel totally different for you - I understand that's not something everyone can subscribe to, at this time, but it's the honest reply."
  20. I like the PAYG model you get with BATC premium voices. A subscription costs the same every month even if you've haven't touched the sim.
  21. That was my experience when I last used FSLTL injector, I'm not sure if I configured something incorrectly. I also saw aircraft taxiing through airport buildings and heading off into the city...
  22. Yes, but is that the same data FSLTL were using before?
  23. Am I right in thinking this will make FSLTL the same as before the plug got pulled, or will the 'official' FR24 data be more detailed and accurate?
  24. I bought a 5090 last year before hardware prices went haywire. I was going to buy either Quest 3 or Pimax Crystal but I've decided to wait for Valve's Steam Frame.
