Using Xbox controller, how to open doors, remove chocks etc

Featured Replies

When in walk around mode I couldn't for the life of me find out which binding opens doors, removes covers/chocks, moves ailerons etc when using the Xbox controller.

Anyone know?

I don't want to use the VR controller at all (unnecessary extra), even though that worked it doesn't work very well at all!

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

I’m not an expert but I’ve used the Xbox controller in VR to do this a few times now.  If you’re familiar with the drone camera controls the joysticks move you around kinda like the drone controller.  If you right click with your mouse you can get the arrow/hand icon to come up instead of the mouse dot and then you can click to open doors and interact with the aircraft.  I changed my mouse interactions in the settings to legacy control so I don’t know if that affects the walkaround or not.  Also I realized that some things that you just have to look at you can walk around and then center your gaze on the pins and it will change color and start to spin and if you hold your gaze there long enough it will change to a green check mark.  Some of the click spots for things are not right where the pins appear so you might have to move your mouse a little to click on what you’re supposed to.  For example the chocks you can just usually click on them to remove instead of the dot they are associated with.  I’m still learning more as I do it but that’s what I’ve found out.  You can also use the X button I believe on the controller to crouch down and back up.  If you walk close to the aircraft enough it will in some cases crouch down for you depending on what you’re looking at.

The bindings for things are all under characters.  I did bind a button to “character interaction” I believe it’s called which is what allows you to enter and exit the aircraft.

The issue is we shouldn't have to use the mouse for anything when in walk around mode with the Xbox Controller, it should be simple & straight forward but it's anything but.

It's not even strictly a VR issue for me.  Even in 2d, I simply can't interact while trying to preflight my aircraft, using just the A button on my xbox controller.
