What's with the performance in SoCal?
Yeah, I deleted both the RC and cleared all nvidia shader caches just a couple of days ago prior to installing SU6.

What's with the performance in SoCal?
So I just tried disabling the addon, and still the same poor performance. Really not sure. I'm almost certain I don't have any addons that could be causing it either. Will need to dig deeper. Very strange it's only really happening in this specific area.

Already on DLSS performance 🙃. Interesting tip on AutoFPS though...I'll give that a shot later for sure.

What's with the performance in SoCal?
I had no idea they were using new TIN, I guess that explains it. From what I remember SoCal already looked really good before it. It's one of my favorite places in the world to fly, so the recent performance has been rather disappointing. I guess I'll just uninstall the new update too then.

What's with the performance in SoCal?
Anyone else have a very noticeable difference in performance in SoCal (LAX / SAN) than in other places? For some reason in the SoCal area specifically its just impossible for me to get good low level performance. My 9800x3d gets absolutely hammered (50+ ms frametimes) just after rotation. This is even with using AutoFPS to limit TLOD to 50 on the ground. Then once I hit about 2500 ft agl frametimes almost instantly drop back into the teens and things become perfectly smooth. It's really strange and only an issue in THIS specific area and it is 100% not a VRAM issue. I swear it's gotten so much worse over the past few months, and never used to be like this. All the notoriously demanding areas (NYC, Tokyo, London, etc...) none of them have this kind of behavior. Running in VR on a bsb2e, on a 9800x3d with a 5080 and 64gb ram.

RealTurb
I fly pretty much all GA...the biggest thing I fly is the Longitude. To me...realistic is the choice. Sure, it can seem a bit overdone at some points, but it's usually pretty good. Once I drop to medium, the air everywhere is just WAY too smooth imo. Pretty much zero turbulence. This is with running RealTurb in addtion. There should really be another setting between Realistic and Medium.

MSFS 2024 Sim Update 5.1 released now...
Generally good performance for me in VR on a 5080 and 9800x3d. I'm definitely using pretty conservative settings compared to what my hardware can probably push...but I'd rather play it safe and stay stable on the frametimes, than try to squeeze out tiny bits eye candy I probably wouldn't even notice during flight. Still though...the LA area is just kryptonite for me. Doesn't matter how far a lower my settings...frametimes are through the roof. It's strange that it really only happens here. NYC, London, Tokyo, etc.... are all fine.

Say Intentions Expo Announcements
Agreed. The past week or so I've had some of the absolute worst vectoring and approach controlling since I've been using the software, and I've been using it for well over a year now. Hopefully they get it ironed out soon.

interesting new camera view app
I'm also very interested in Chaseplane but have always held off due to what I thought was no VR support. Interesting to hear that it actually works.

What do you use Flow by Parallel 42 for?
Unfortunately still not working for me. Testing right now at KBED, and even moving time forward I'm seeing fairly significant changes in temperature, baro, and wind. It's definitely still taking yesterday's weather for me. Edit: Also just tested using the default sim controls, and it works perfectly fine. There is definitely a bug with the Flow Widgets.

What do you use Flow by Parallel 42 for?
Is there a way to change time but keep Live Weather, using the Flow Pro time & weather widgets? I just can't seem to get it to to work. Whenever I change the time in the widget, the weather also changes to historical.

Phenom 300 soon? (released 18 May 26)
Anyone fly it yet in VR? How are things?

rebar off. Dont forget it!
Using a 5080 here. Flying exclusively in VR, I see a noticeable improvement with Rebar OFF. Do it right through the Nvidia Inspector. Couldn't be eaiser.

Spotty26 with Flyby -Chase-World-Tower camera
Anyone know if it works in VR?

Release Test Build 1.7.24.0 Monday Apr 27 2026
Of all the VR bugs they've allowed to knowingly make it to a SU final release...This one might be the most egregious. It effects more than just chocks and covers. In many aircraft you can't interact with things in the cockpit either. It really needs to be addressed or VR is going to lose users.

MSFS Auto FPS App
Just tried the new test version and yes, it's certainly better (less aggressive) in my opinion. I will do a bit more testing in the morning and provide some more feedback. Thanks for this!

MSFS Auto FPS App
So I’m not using Motion Smoothing if that’s what you’re referring to. But yes, Steam VR is auto throttling me to half refresh rate of 38, and subsequently applying a ~50% reprojection ratio. I've also locked to 38 in the sim as well even though it's probably not even completely necessary. The reason I set 37 as my target and not 37.5 is to give me just a bit of room for TLOD to hold steady, and not decrease when I drop from 38 to 37….since 37 is still perfectly smooth. Only at 36 and below do things start to get hairy. I can definitely PM you a couple of logs later tonight once I get home from work.

MSFS Auto FPS App
So I’m strictly in VR with a BSB2e. I’ve got an fps cap of 38 set in the sim, and a target of 37 set in AutoFPS. What I’ve found, is that I get far smoother and more predictable increases / decreases in TLOD using Manual rather than Fixed, in FPS Sensitivity mode. When I use fixed, I notice the TLOD has issues maintaining a steady climb and a lot of times will actually drop itself back down to my min of 50, even when FPS seems to be holding steady.

MSFS 2024 Rythmic Stutter Every Second
I get this also sometimes. It immediately goes away when I disable moving maps on the Navigraph EFB.

A2A Roadmap
I know it's April 1, but I don't think A2A would do that to us. They've never been that kind of company. This is definitely legit.

How to improve 3D depth in msfs
FakeWayne replied to Fielder's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)I tried it out on my bsb2e. Using 95% FOV, 8 on the 3d effect, and increased the World Scale to compensate. I gotta say, I really like it a lot. It's subtle enough to not cause any eye strain, but absolutely makes a difference...gives me a more "present" feeling. Hard to explain, but I'm certainly sticking with it.

BlackSquare Caravan Professional out
Mind sharing a few operators you know of in the Caribbean? Seems like those routes could be very much in my wheelhouse for what I'm looking to do with the Caravan.
