Airbus A340-300 in MSFS2024 - San Francisco to Los Angeles

Featured Replies

First of all, this is my 3rd flight in MSFS2024 with (Asobo 737 MAX, AH DC-3, LVFR A340-300) in that order (if you wish, please see my previous posts). However, I must point out that today while attempting to fly, on my MSFS2024/Xbox, either the "A330-300P2F" or the "A321LR", I was not successful. These two aircraft simply would not load even after multiple attempts (the SIM freezes and becomes unresponsive before the VC loads into the screen), so, I need to examine why, because I'm particularly interested in these two default a/c from iniBuilds. For this post, I am flying here, instead, the LVFR A340-300, which is a quad-jet, that I am also very fond of, having travelled on this Airbus type umpteen times in the RW.

This A340 is, of course, not a complex rendition, and, not surprisingly, my test-flight today with it was blemish-less throughout (and a great deal of fun too), from takeoff to touchdown. And I'm particularly beginning to like the (default/Asobo) pop-up TABLET (see images, below), which is very helpful and a really a wonderful (visual) aid, especially for this mountain-lover/flyer...🙂...This is because it can be used with any aircraft in the SIM, for situational awareness around mountainous terrain, especially those a/c without a more competent G1000/G3000 (PFD/MFD) avionics suite. Moreover, it allows ability to approach and capture ILS signals to an airport, with any aircraft that might have less sophisticated avionics but at least an HSI (LOC/GS) indicator. For example, here, I've used the EFB display to (manually) capture the ILS signals for Rwy 25R to KLAX airport (see my sequence of images on final approach), without the need for activating any (ARR) Procedures on the FMC.

For this flight, I've opted to fly at low level (FL210) to better appreciate the varied geography of my route. MSFS2024 has rendered the topography of this region rather well. However, I wish I could say the same about the PG rendition of the surrounding areas of big airports. So far, on my Xbox (was so in MSFS2020 too), such scenery has appeared as an unsightly mix of melted and malformed buildings...constantly going through the process of popping up into shape and then instantly going back to the original blur. I cannot tell if it has anything to do with my (client) side bandwidth or just a server-side issue. Anyway, just this week, I negotiated with my Internet Service Provider, without any increase in monthly charge, a better data rate of (up to ~225 Mbps) ...using the argument of been a loyal customer for over 15 years...🙂...so, maybe the enhanced bandwidth will help here or maybe not. I will know when I receive my Modem/Extender units for the new service plan in a few days.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the collection of pictures, below, from my trip on the A343 today (in the Cathay Pacific colors, only livery available now) as I fly across this most scenic and unique topography (consisting of ocean, mountains, and (Mojave) deserts; please examine my screenshots below, and you'll get a fair idea of the enroute terrain between San Francisco and Los Angeles). Notably, there are several mountain ranges on this route, including the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, of which you will also see glimpses, in my images below (BTW, I found the (default) EFB's Terrain display to be a nice medium to co-relate what I saw outside my Pilot's window...🙂...with what I observed on the EFB screen; this EFB is so much better and more capable than the VFR Map of MSFS2020) ...

Thanks for viewing and happy flying...!

PM, Nuno, Andreas: Thanks for chiming in...🙂...!

Yes, PM, this is the LVFR A340 that you've seen before from me in MSFS2020 ...As I said, I've so far tried only 3 simpler add-ons (Asobo 737 MAX, not sure who made it..., the AH DC-3, and this LVFR A343) ...

No joy yet with iniBuilds A321LR/A330-300P2F of personal interest...these a/c do not load into my Xbox/TV screen...yet ...

Andreas: I understand that the MSFS2020 airplanes and add-on a/c and liveries will be eventually available in the Marketplace, if not already ...I'm now just trying the ones as-is in MSFS2024 Airplanes menu...Not sure if they are updated...Appreciated your comment...!

Yes, I survived the full flight in the SIM with this quad-jet airliner...🙂...an a/c I recall very well from RW...waiting for more liveries in the marketplace...

The a/c and SIM here actually get the credit...Thank you, Adam.
