How do I disable Streaming items?

Featured Replies

Just as the title asks. How do I disable streamed scenery or airplanes?

I bought the word not allowed scenery of KATL from Imagine Sim when MSFS was just released. I purchased the Imagine Sim scenery through the marketplace. MSFS released the custom scenery for said airport sometime later, which I much prefer, so I disabled the Imagine sim Ver.

I started the MSFS 2024 sim today and found that the Imagine Sim scenery is now the dominant scenery at KATL, whereas yesterday it was not. I went to my 2024 library intending to disable the Imagine Sim ver, but I do not see any option to do so. Indeed, MS and ASOBO did not release the Simulator without allowing users to disable portions of streamed scenery or airplanes we do not intend to use. I am guessing I don't know how. Could some kind person guide me in disabling this streamed airport?

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Robin.

I’m not certain but I don’t think this will be an option until the market place opens.

I may be wrong, but that’s the scuttle butt…

Until the Marketplace is up and running, scenery cannot be disabled unfortunately. There's a manual option if you want to disable a default airport if you have something else in community folder. But that's not what you're trying to do.

could not simply unplug your hardwire, or disable your wifi, or turn off your modem for your flying session?  I have not tried that but it may work.

Please tell me about the manual method. I have aftermarket scenery for KSEA in my community folder that I have disabled because it conflicts with the MSFS default scenery.

Thanks.

Actually you can do it.  Someone on the official forums found a workaround.  You need to go to the StreamedPackages folder and find the folder name of the addon you want to block.  Copy that exact folder name and then go to the community folder and create a new folder with that name and nothing in it.  The sim will see that and it will override the streamed one.  Since there's nothing in there, nothing is actually loaded other than whatever base version you might own, in this case the WU version.  You can actually delete the one in StreamedPackages (and your scenery indexes) and the sim won't even download them again.  You can verify it's working because it no longer shows in the sim's library in the sim.  Even if you don't delete it from StreamedPackages.

Edit:  I've used this to block the Zinertek Airport Textures and the Origami EGKK addons.

Edit2:  You may be disappointed in the WU version of KATL though.  I was looking at it last night and while it loads fine, there are floating disembodied jetways floating all over and seemingly not related to the terminals at all.  Like floating over the middle of the aprons between terminals

Great. I am off to try that; I only use addon-linker, but I expect your method to work. I will report back soon.

Yeah it should work with addon linker as well, just create the empty folder in your addon linker "library" and use the linker to send it to your community folder like any other addon.  I only finally set the sim up Sunday night and haven't had time to really do much except poke around at settings a bit so I haven't even gotten around to setting addon linker up for it yet.

Your method does work—just not with the linker. However, creating an empty folder in the community folder did the trick.
