Have you managed to set throttle axis for helis?

Featured Replies

I've started to define my controller profiles for helicopters in FS 2024, but I came accross a problem whose cause I wasn't able to figure out - making helicopter throttle axis work (twist grip).

I use the Hotas module from an old broken X52 Pro for my Collective and throttle axes, assigning Collective to the HOTAS throttle lever and Throttle to one of the rotaries, but whenever I move that rotary it also acts on the Collective ???

Do any of you share this quirk? Can you properly set separate control axis for collective and twist grip throttle in the FS 2024 helis?

Thanks !

I haven't done this, but just one thought: Have you made sure that "Collective assistance" is turned off in the assistance options?

ill try and map mine this evening and let you know

Yep! All Assistance options are turned OFF.

Yes I've been able to map throttle and collective separately on my VKB STECS throttle quadrant.

The normal throttle axis on the controller is mapped to "COLLECTIVE AXIS" and the rotary knob is mapped to "SET HELICOPTER THROTTLE AXIS" and they function independently just as expected.

Just tried in Robinson 66 and it works.

I've set throttle to "Helicopter Throttle Axis 1"

I've bound a button to toggle the engine governor on/off, when off the throttle responds as expected

Tried H125 but no luck yet using "Helicopter Throttle Axis 1 or 2", nor "Throttle Axis 1, 2, 3, 4".  Axis 1 ,2 seems to be the same as collective.

Mapping a governor toggle doesn't seem to do anything so far. There might be another switch that needs to operate before manual throttle can work

I also have all assistance turned off in the game

Edit - with R66 and governor off, extreme collective inputs / rapid rudder inputs etc doesn't affect the rotor rpms at all on the gauge (so far). Another thing for them to fix 🙂

These work for the H125 for me:

The normal throttle axis on the controller is mapped to "COLLECTIVE AXIS" and the rotary knob is mapped to "SET HELICOPTER THROTTLE AXIS" and they function independently just as expected.

I haven't flown the R66 yet, just the Cabri and H125.

Hmm, did you need to turn off the governor or anything else? However, thank you for the tip

Edit - just tried all throttle axis options and governor options again in the H125 but still can't get it to work.

To All of you, big Thx! for your contributions.

I did try to use that option "SET HELICOPTER THROTTLE AXIS" too, but didn't have success.

Also thought about going Axis1 as suggested by @dogmanbird but didn't yet try that one. I am aware that some of the choppers I had purchased for FS 2020 did use Axis1 or even other to set the twist grip.

I'll try again tonight if I have the chance. Only trying with the default helis in FS 2024 Standard Edition.

Wanted to register and post the fix for this.  Another forum recommended only setting Collective Axis and take away the assignment for Throttle Axis.  Then only use the Collective Axis on the joystick or throttle quadrant.  This solved my issue.  Before I had both set and they were in conflict with each other.
