December 12, 20241 yr I just happened to go into developer mode and noticed that under "packages" all of the streaming content seems to be coming from Akamai. Has anyone else noticed this? Quite curious it wouldn't coming from the much-hyped Azure cloud. Perhaps Azure infrastructure is not as robust as advertised or not structurally suitable for this kind of application? As one in the IT field I know many vendors use Akamai, particularly for file and update storage and downloads. But is it really the best vehicle for a streaming product such as MSFS2024? Perhaps others more knowledgeable than me understand the basis for this. BT
December 12, 20241 yr Akamai is a CDN, not a cloud provider. Akamai is the biggest CDN company in the world, and it’s very common to have Akamai as a layer over Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud. This is somewhat simplified, but it is certainly not the case that Azure is somehow “not suitable” just cause there’s an Akamai CDN serving content from their edge servers. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
