>Ok re: this VNAV issue...>>There are no default aircraft in FSX with VNAV, correct?>(because there is no FMC in any of those aircraft?) Have I>missed something?>>(btw am patiently waiting for the Eaglesoft Cessna Citation X>2.0 which says it will support VNAV :-P and :-D and also btw>it will be just too cool to use this airplane in the next>RTWR)That is correct, Rob. Anthing short of a fully functional FMS/FMC will only emulate a Vertical Speed Hold function, which isn't nearly the same thing as a true VNav function... ;)The CitX FMS will be 99.8% functional. The remaining 0.2% is simply because there really are some things which simply cannot be done in FS (any version). :)As it happens though, it is quite possible that the CJ1 Avionics Expansion featuring a fully-functional UNS-1 FMS will reach the finish line first...

Just to say it's not just you...I've got an X52 with the same knob mapped to Elev Trim. Works wonderfully in IL2 and in FSX (when flying by hand). But it seems to override the autopilot. Altitudes are never captured or held (in general none of the altitude settings work - Alt Hold, Pitch Hold, or VS).I can sort of see where the autopilot is trying, but it seems to be fighting the trim input... Looks like a bit like you're in turbulence.I've also found that mapping speed brakes/spoilers to the other knob on the throttle works to give fine adjustments for them, but that the Mooney alerter doesn't think they're retracted.I'd like to use the little slider for speed brakes, but can't seem to find which axis it maps too...

What I don't understand is why other flight sticks, like the Cougar, doesn't have the same effect on the sim. I suppose the technology, and API, is the same, or isn't it? Any hardware savvy pilot around to enlighten us?Cheers/Jonas

Any hardware savvy pilot around to enlighten us?Cheers/JonasOn the Cougar the manual trim is not disconnected when I use autopilot altitude/VS lock. However, if I feed a manual trim change in gently then the A/P will re-adjust to compensate and keep the aircraft as A/P commanded. Both the aircraft I am currently flying in Indonesia (PC12 & Citation II) require nose up trim for take off. Sometimes in the bustle of the initial departure I forget to roll the manual trim back to neutral (where I like to fly it under A/P control) before engaging the AP altitude/VS lock. If so I can just slowly roll my thumb slowly on the manual trim rotary until I hit the neutral detent. I can watch the visual manual trim wheel in the cockpit move as the autopilot re-adjusts to allow for my HOTAS trim change. It might not be realistic but then FSX does have its limitations.

I have exactly the same problem. its really annoying. I have an x52 with the top throttle wheel assigned and it feels good as a trim, but even i add a wide null zone, it keep sending 'signals' to fsx stopping the autopilot changing. if you look at the white trim marker you will see it buzzing as the autopilot tries to take control and is prevented. Have you found a fix for this yet?CheersAlex

This is also a problem when sharing a cockpit. If I use the trim or use my toe brakes on my pedals; then from that point I still have exclusive control over trim or brakes no matter who is flying unless they also have that function on an axis.I have an X52 Pro, and usually the autopilot is no problem. Recently I busted an altitude in my PMDG 1900C but I momentarily deactivted the AP, retrimmed and the autopilot captured the altitude on the way down and performed flawlessly the rest of the flight. It's the only problem I have had with autopilot in weeks.Weeks ago, all my aircraft were virtually unflyable. The trim was maxed out when autopilot was on and I had all sorts of control spikes. On a hunch I unplugged my RealFlight G4 Interlink RC controller... problems vanished. I learned that that controller was being seen by FSX and was interfering with elevator especially. I went into FSX settings and deleted all the control axises assigned to my RC controller, now I can use FSX with it plugged in. Best Regards, Donald T.:-waveFLYing? It's cool. Trillions of birds and insects can't be wrong.

It's really just a function of those playtime default airplanes. Real-world AP pitch modes will disconnect with any pitch trim input. If a joystick is erratically providing pitch trim commands, the AP should disengage. Try it with the PMDG 73/47(X) or the LDS airplane.
