how to make just flight 747 work in P3D V4.5

Featured Replies

Hello guys, I am currently using p3d v4.5 and I would like to fly the just flight 747. I know it's up to v3 and 32-bit and 64-bit differences and all that, but then I saw this gentleman's video:

I also have the just flight DC-10 which IS officially compatible with v4, so if I need to grab any files from that it is possible. Thanks!

If the 747 is like their DC-10, the gauges are XML and they will do fine. The issue is with the modules that control the sounds of knobs and switches, that need to be replaced.

There is a guy who did a similar thing with the DC-10. See this post and the next ones:

Lossless Scaling for all my sims. What a godsend...

I made it work but it takes some time to replace gauges, etc. 🙂

I honestly don't mind not having clicking sounds on the switches, I just want it to be flyable. Do you have specific instructions on what to do? Thanks

Install it, remove the offending modules, give it a try, and let us know the results.

It`s amazing what some can do in P3D.

sorry I still don't understand, do you happen to know the exact steps to do this?

I think it might also be necessary to tweak the model of the plane (separate the VC and exterior model) by using Modelconverter. To be honest though I would recommend getting X-plane 12/11 and the Felis 747 instead (it is amazing and you will never use the CLS 747 after having flown the Felis).

Sorry, I don't. I had uninstalled all my copies of FSX (and the 747 that I got via Steam) because I needed the space.

I've read the reviews for the Felis 747-200 and it sounds amazing in X-Plane, however some people prefer the simplicity's of "light" airliners like CLS makes, some times I prefer not having to go through all the motions of a complex study level airliner like the Felis plane.  I have the HD version of the CLS DC-10 package and I really enjoy flying it.  I like that I can do quick flights without spending many hours going over many hundreds of pages of manuals then having to take 15 - 20 minutes going from cold and dark startup to "ready to fly".

What I particularly like about the their DC-10 is that you can mostly ignore the engineers panel when first learning the airplane (I'm sure the 747 is probably the same way), but since many of those systems are modeled enough to the point that it gives the impression that they are modeled, i.e. warning lights light up when switches are not in correct position gauges will move, etc. though it has no affect on the main aircraft itself.

Also, almost everything is clickable even if it's not really modeled so with these features, you can still enjoy flying the airplane for quick flights, while you continue to slowly take your time and learn the rest at your own pace, if you wish, to learn more about how the aircraft engineers station is operated.

BTW I have the HD version of the CLS DC-10 mostly working in P3Dv5 without having to do anything (I've read the non-hd version requires a lot more work).  I have encountered two smaller issues that I believe that are P3Dv5 related:

1. The fan blades for engine #2 are not visible, both the textures and effects are missing.

2. The potable water systems on the engineers panel will not pressurize (low levels indicators are all lit) and gauges all reading 0 with the the switches moved to the PRESS position.  I searched every inch of the engineers panel and I don't see any other switches that would be related to this system (though I still could possibly just be missing it).

Yeah that make sense! I also like to fly the DC-10 for the same reasons. If anyone really wants the CLS 747 to work in P3Dv4/P3Dv5 send me a pm and I will try to be of help 🙂
