March 29, 20251 yr I don't really see any revelation when it comes to some folks claiming that we live in a simulation. Firstly, a simulator "simulates" the real thing, so we humans "living in a simulation" doesn't really make sense. Anyway, let's suppose that some omnipotent being made all these stars, planets, humans, and other creatures and put us all here to live out our lives and do stuff. OK, is that a "simulation"? Maybe our universe is really all contained in some chamber in a scientist's lab in another dimension, but does that make it any less real? March 29, 20251 yr Nothing new here, really. As the article says, Plato suggested similar ideas 2500 years ago, and Bishop Berkeley 300 years ago. At the end, if you can't tell the difference, does it even matter if your experience is real or made up? Peter

And who know what we might come up with future? Does a fish in an aquarium know it's not in the ocean? I seem to recall a Star Trek episode where Sherlock Holmes' Dr. Moriarity was brought to life in the holideck by Data and took control of the Enterprise. And they transported him into a simulated universe so he and his girl friend could explore their universe. We will never know...maybe. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot.
