March 31, 20251 yr Hey everyone, I’ve been messing around with a workaround for the broken EFB tablet in VR on MSFS 2024. I made a custom inGamePanel that acts as a temporary fix. Here’s the deal: The panel opens either through the default tablet icon or a new one labeled “EFB PANEL.” You can also pop it up using the default EFB hotkey combo (same as the stock one). It creates a separate instance of the tablet, and it syncs all the settings with the default EFB. It’s pretty simple and gets the job done until they fix the VR tablet. Let me know what you think or if you’ve got questions! Happy flying! https://github.com/buzinin/msfs2024-efb-panel
March 31, 20251 yr Firstly many thanks for this, I gave it a go this evening and it works pretty well. I did however notice a performance hit with it open, not massive but noticeable enough. Also the map was flickering at one point but it soon calmed down to normal, not sure what was up with that. It'll certainly be good to use this until Asobo learn to code properly (!), quite why it's taking them sooooo long to fix the default EFB is anyones guess but hey ho it is what it is eh?! April 1, 20251 yr Author Glad to hear it's working well for you! 😊 The performance drop happens because the panel creates a new instance of the EFB, while the default one remains hidden in the background. Since the default EFB is always running from the moment the sim loads, adding another instance can have some impact. In general, if FPS is already low, opening any panel can cause a temporary drop in performance. As for the map flickering, that’s interesting—I haven’t seen that happen consistently. If it keeps occurring, let me know, and I’ll look into it. And yeah, we’ll see how long it takes Asobo to sort out the default EFB… but in the meantime, at least we have a workaround!
April 1, 20251 yr yeah come to think of it 2020 suffered from performance issues with too many toolbar panels open at once, I can live with that for now though. April 1, 20251 yr Very much appreciated! Works like a charm. Finally, the EFB has arrived in the VR cockpit. Thanks a lot. April 3, 20251 yr No need for a workaround any longer because the EFB was fixed in the SU2 Beta yesterday.
April 3, 20251 yr Well, partially fixed, no way to resize and the resolution is off. So this mod works better.
