Monument Valley runway remains as breathtaking as ever

The runway at Monument Valley remains as breathtaking as ever. The approach is also a little bit tricky when it’s hot and windy. And you have to make up your mind soon for the go around. It’s a one way landing runway. For this little flight of 30 minutes, the departure airfield (Page, KPGA) is also a scenic airport with the Lake Powell. The route is just a visual delight. Enjoy.

The full route as seen from my iPad Foreflight app (trafic is GAmod and AIG):

I’m use to park at Classic FBO when stopping at Page, AZ. Most of the time to refuel as it’s crowded of tourist (and I’m a tourist). What changing FBO? Let’s do the same in the real world:

At the runup area, runway 15. Lean mixture. Airport is at 4’317 feet and the little 160hp Lycoming requires all my attention:

Ready to go behind the bizjet for this early departure:

Taking off from runway 15, Page, AZ (KPGA):

Turning east after departure:

The MSFS2024 texture quality is awesome in this area (except two ground satellite images not blended at all):

The Navajo Mountain (10’346 feet):

MSFS2024 is done for that:

Good legacy GPS avionic in this Just Flight PA28-Warrior:

Turning final, right hand runway 16, UT25:

Stay focus. Close to the decision point: stabilized approach or not? Going around or not?

Full flaps, let’s go. It’s too late for going around anyway:

A small little airfield in a movie set:

Unpack everything, put the luggage out and wait for the Goulding’s Lodge’s shuttle:

A great set! The lighting is so natural it's difficult to tell whether I'm looking at sim or reality.

Wonderful series of pictures...rich and complex...🙂...Liked the scenery, the airport buildings, and the misc. airplanes around...

I can see why the airport is one-way landing (and takeoff) only...must be hard to focus on the runway with that gigantic mesa right ahead, in front ...🙂...

Thanks for sharing...!

Wonderful pics, Vincent! Maybe it's only on my monitor, but your other posts usually have larger pics, so we can enjoy them even more. 🙂

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

@bernd1151 Thank for your comment. You're right I copy/paste the wrong URL for each pic. You can see them here https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/monument-valley-runway-remains-as-breathtaking-as-ever/723889/1

And I won't add them here, as I've been notify that there's already too many pics in this thread 😉
