3 screen setup possible in Linux?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

Have been setting up Linux Mint Cinnamon and was pleasantly surprised by the results. I installed xp12 and suddenly realized there is no native multiple screen support in Linux for the sim. I'm a bit disappointed because I've been simming for years using three screens in win7/10/11

Any help would be appreciated!

Nvidia 2080 super..

I installed Ubuntu but I get a Vulkan error now when trying to install xp12

That combo should work but I run AMD so can't be sure what is wrong. Make sure you have the proprietary drivers installed. Not Mesa.

Might dig up the old monitor and test a multi config. I would have thought it would work.

I have been considering installing Mint for some time now. I have a trial dual-boot installed on my laptop and I like it. But your post here worries me, I also use 3 monitors and I will not stop using them for anything.

I fought hard and lost with the wifi on that machine, it is an old Dell inspiron 1525. I gave up and I use it wired to my modem. I hadn't considered that I'd have problems with my monitors too when I move my desktop PC over.

Please post here again if you figure it out, inquiring minds wanna know...

My triple monitor setup is working just fine in Mint and Ubuntu. Xplane12 in Linux Mint however doesn't recognize these displays.  There is no option in the xp12 user interface to pick more than 1 screen.

I'm trying to install xp12 in Ubuntu to see if there is multiple monitors support but I get a Vulkan error message when trying to install

Is Mint still on x11? If not, maybe a wayland quirk?

-- monitor_bounds=0,0,1920,1080,1920,0,1920,1080

This is for 2 screens obviously but those where wording just fin!

This command has done the trick.

Never used Linux before so it's been quite some getting used to.

good stuff.

I keep several bash scripts in my home directly for starting xplane and VR stuff in different configurations. Also what power mode is set can make a big difference to performance.
