GSX problems

Featured Replies

After the Chase Plane problems, it seems as if GSX has suffered some sort of malfunction after updates.

Mine works fine at the departure airport but GSX drops completely during finals and is just not available and cannot be restarted.

Anybody got a work-around while we wait for Umberto to do his thing?

Intel i7 6700K @4.3. 32gb Gskill 3200 RAM. Z170x Gigabyte m/b. 28" LG HD monitor. Win 10 Home. 500g Samsung 960 as Windows home. 1 Gb Mushkin SSD for P3D. GTX 1080 8gb.

Unfortunately it isn't possible to roll back GSX if you have updated it as far as I am aware. I understand that a GSX beta upgrade option may be available in future, but the last big update has indeed broken GSX for P3D and FSX according to the FSDreamteam P3D support forum. Umberto is aware of the issues and is working on a fix according to his recent responses. It's never a good idea to update GSX if you have it working, every update always seems to introduce problems.

The approach I take is to take a system image before doing any updates in order that I can roll back, but doing so requires de-registering all PMDG products and P3D so that when you restore from the system image you can reregister everything.

One other possible approach is to take a backup of your C:\Program Files (x86)\Addon Manager folder before updating, and then overwrite the folder after any update to attempt to go back, but I have not tried this.

I'll have to learn not to do this, whenever they bring out a big update, they always break something, none of my FSDT products work at the moments, buildings not showing, Coutl keeps crashing, stuff like that. Will be eager to update when its fixed

I could overwrite as I have backups. However, I am not keen to do that as it may have unknown results. If I really wanted to, I could overwrite everything Windows, P3D and everything to a week ago but I don't want to waste a whole day. Then there is no guarantee that it will work.

Let's just wait for the fix.

Last major update it was a couple of months before Umberto fixed it for P3D.

Posting it here, instead of the FSDT support forum and with proper error logs and description, is not the best way to have a chance to get it fixed. It's just wrong to assume that, just because "last time" it took a while to fix a problem with P3D, this would always be the case. The chance of something being fixed is not related to the simulator used, but the accuracy of the reports.

Awaiting your reports and your error logs here:

I could not find a log. I am planning to fly tomorrow with the full log option set. Then you will have your log!
