Cannot open 2020 or 2024 after restore

Featured Replies

Due to a McAffe originated malware which could not be eliminated, I restored my system and since then, I cannot open MS 2020 or 2024.- When trying, a banner appears informing something like: no licenses app applicable found.- I rolled back to the original restore point, and have the same problem.- Perhaps there is a solution that avoids reinstallation. Thanks

Reinstall. Its fast and easy using Xbox app/

Remember that you HAVE to be signed into the Xbox App to boot up either sim first time round.  Your licence is held in the XBox App.

So - log into the Xbox App; leave that running; open MSFS2020 or MSFS2024 - they should now load up as normal.  Repeat the process for the second sim.

From then on, the sims will remember your details, unless you reinstall them again - in which case, you repeat the above.

...and yes, it would be useful if the automatic text that flags that there is no licence was edited to add that advice.  *sigh*

I recently had the same problem and consequently uninstalled the sim through the XBox app. After rebooting the computer I couldn’t find MSFS 2024 in the XBox app any longer. So, I had to open the MS Store for reinstalling the sim. Everything went well and I found all my controller settings untouched.

I remembered that at the windows installed apps facility, there is an option to repair, so I did it and the problem was fixed
