"avsim hasn't even posted the 'news' on the front page yet ..."Yes Scoob, very strange indeed that front page omission. No doubt there is an explanation en-route.

Looks like today is my day for being curt with people telling (or inferring) AVSIM staff what to do.Yes, it's news, no, it's not posted. To my knowledge, which is very limited here, Mr. Phil Taylor hasn't yet talked to AVSIM in any official capacity about his job plans, he's only so far just mentioned it in his blog. If it were my responsibility (and maybe it is, maybe I missed the memo that I was supposed to write this up, maybe I have a million things to do already), I would want to talk with Phil and maybe get an interview in so that all my facts were correct. In my own personal opinion, I don't think it's responsible journalism to just quote from a blog without going to the primary source; people can get sued for doing that. But let's just get back to the "I have a million things to do" bit, as I feel it's very relevant. As you may or may not be aware, AVSIM is staffed by volunteers who give their time and talents for free. While a certain level of constructive direction is appropriate for guiding a volunteer staff, I think making demands is not. Not that I see anyone being demanding here, but also recall this is my day for cutting folks off at the knees. So, enterprising newshounds can go find Phil sometime when he's not busy, and ask him please to say a few kind words about his job prospects, in a vein that AVSIM readers would enjoy. You can write up your article and submit it to the News Forum, where it will be editted and posted, as long as it's decently readable and factual. A paragraph or two would probably be sufficient. That would help A LOT! Unless, of course, another AVSIM Staff member has already written the article, and I missed it...
