November 2, 200817 yr i have a clean install of FSX w/ acceleration. i flew in DX10 preview all day with no taxiway flashing. then i installed FSX SDK and ADE and POOF!! taxiway flashing. any chance that SDK caused this or is it coincidence?
November 2, 200817 yr It's just a coincedence. The DirectX 10 implementation in FSX is not 100% complete. Hence why it is called DX10 Preview mode.
November 2, 200817 yr "then i installed FSX SDK and ADE"I agree with Sargeski. It's a well-known FSX issue and really not a coincidence. You had DX10 Preview turned off or it wasn't activated yet as you have to restart FSX to activate DX10. BTW, refresh my poor memory. What's ADE? Please respond soonest as it's going to be hard for me to sleep trying to figure this mystery out. Thanks!Best regards,Jim
November 3, 200817 yr Author sorry firehawk, someone beat me to the ADE question. but to add to your earlier post, i DID have SX10 preview on the whole day before i installed ADE. so as a test i went back and uninstalled ADE, went back to DX10 preview and no more taxiway flashing.though i agree it probably is coincidence, it is still hard to ignore what happened.
November 3, 200817 yr All I can think of that would interact, is when you install the SDK you get three dll programs added that can run in FSX. However, IIRC you have to manually enable these programs in dll.xml or they don't load. ADE also can run using simconnect to get data from FSX, but I don't think it makes any changes that would affect simconnect, let alone scenery.scott s..
November 4, 200817 yr Author well i am baffled, but that is why DX10 is just a preview. when it comes time for FS11, i will have to scrap my brand new 9800GTX+ for a DX10.1 or DX11 card anyway.
