COMMUNTY FOLDER MISSING

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need some help. After SU4 Update Beta 1.6.5.0 my Community folder has disappeared!

Now I have only one Community folder: Comunity2024 and it is empty!

It is supposed to be in:

Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages

But is it not!

What I have to do?

Thank you in advance

Hi, again,

Sorry for the alarm.

It's solved. I've created (write it) a new Community folder where it is supposed to be.

As I have MFSF Addon Linker I could restore my add-ons (now I have to select the add-ons I want and that's all).

But it is very weird, because I think I didn't do any action to provoke the issue.

But, why is there a Community2024 folder now? It wasn't there before!

MS Copilot: why is there a community2024 folder in MSFS2024 SU4

The Community2024 folder introduced in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Sim Update 4 (SU4) is designed to make life easier for users who have both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 installed on the same system.
Here’s how it works:
•     🗂️ Shared Add-ons: If you have mods or add-ons that are compatible with both versions, you can place them in the regular  Community folder. Both simulators will read from this location.
•     🧩 2024-Specific Add-ons: If a mod is only compatible with MSFS 2024, you should place it in the new Community2024 folder. MSFS 2024 will read from both folders, but MSFS 2020 will ignore the  Community2024 folder.
This setup helps avoid duplication and saves disk space, while also preventing older versions from trying to load incompatible content. It’s a smart move for those juggling both sims and a library of add-ons.

Thank you, Cap737Delta, for your information. So, I suppose that If I use only Msfs 2024 I can leave it the Community2024 empty, can I? (or the other way around, I imagine; it doesn’t matter…).

Regards

Just have your addons in Community folder and forget the Community2024 folder.

I still don't have my head around this completely. Currently I have 3 community folders. The 2020 one in it's flightsimulatorxxxxxxccxxxx   folder, the 2024 one in it's flightsimulatorLimitlessxcxcvxxx  folder and the community2024 folder in "limitless".

The doc says both will read from the same CF but only 2024 will read CF2024.

I ASSUME if you needed, you could create a single CF and point both 2020 and 2024 to it and also have 2024 specific items in CF2024.  I guess this would save space,

I think I'll just leave my 2020CF where it is and ditto with 2024CF.  The "new" CF2024 is empty anyway.

Sorry Hans, I was referring to the MSCopilot excerpt in the posts above, which come from the release notes
