October 25, 2025Oct 25 I'm having a consistent problem with the autopilot in FS2024. It's the same in multiple planes whenever I use the G1000 and for the sake of the example the plane is the Cessna 172 The autopilot is engaged and it responds to both alt and VS setting correctly but if I attempt to engage either NAV or HDG the plane will veer sharply to the right and go into a tailspin. When I manually override either setting, the plane will respond but the yoke behavior on the screen moves sharply in the opposite direction from the yoke control. All of my controls are Logitech products. This behavior is consistent for a number of different GA aircraft. This problem seems to reemerge after updates are released. I don't remember seeing the problem prior to this last update but I do think it was prevalent until update 2. Are other people having similar problems and if so, have you been able to fix them?

Might be worth checking if somehow under Settings > Assistances some of the options like Auto-rudder, Assisted Yoke or AI Auto-Trim got turned on. Then under Settings > Controls make sure the bindings you have set up for General Controls and Airplane Controls are actually the ones that were loaded by the sim. Do autopilots other than the G1000 seem to work correctly? Al Edited October 25, 2025Oct 25 by ark
October 25, 2025Oct 25 Yes I had the same problem. took me forever to figure it out. I had some msfs 2020 planes installed in 2024, that was spose to be campatible. My autopilot would not work in 2020 ( which i play the most) . So I took all my 2020 planes out of 2024 and now it works fine. I don't know if you have any 2020 planes in 2024 but it might be worth a try if you do. My planes also went to the right and nose dived

If you have a lot of entries in your FS2024 Community folder, a quick way to check for a Community folder conflict as suggested above by thauser is to rename your Community folder to back it up (e.g., Community_BkUp) and then start the sim. The sim will create a new empty Community folder. Then load a default FS2024 G1000 plane and see how it works. Or, if you use Addon Linker, you can disable all addons from your Community folder in one click (on the tool bar, click on the white x in the red dot icon). Start the sim and try a default G1000 plane. If the AP works well with an empty Community folder, you know you likely have a conflict with one of the addons as was suggested above. October 26, 2025Oct 26 Well I actually tried that and it did not solve the problem. What i did was just disabled my 2020 planes in the library and it worked without touching my community folder.

In your first post above you say "My autopilot would not work in 2020 (which i play the most)". Did you mean the AP would not work in FS2024? Al Edited October 26, 2025Oct 26 by ark
October 26, 2025Oct 26 Yes using FS2024 beta. Not sure about FS2024 but it really made my FS2020 not to work. I tried FS2024 with the the G430 and the G530 and I know they didn't work so I didn't quit even trying it and went back to FS2020 and everthing is good.

Hard for me to understand why entries in the FS2024 Community folder or Library would impact the AP in FS2020, but good to hear all is working for you now in FS2020. Thanks for the info, Al

I have dozens of 2020 planes in 2024 and there are no problems with the autopilots. October 26, 2025Oct 26 You may be right, but I was just suggesting because it worked for me. I have no idea why lol.
October 26, 2025Oct 26 I had something similar happen to me yesterday with a flight from KCLE to KLAS in the Max 8. About 2.5 hours into the flight, the plane veered right off the plan and nose-dived about 10,000 ft before I caught what happened. I was able to recover and continue without incident. I'm also using the latest SU4 beta. This happened a lot when 2024 was first released. Haven't happened in a long while since.
