October 28, 2025Oct 28 If true this is very interesting but a lot of chatter going around about the next gen XBox being more of a PC Hybrid. Yet to be seen what that actually means. https://www.techradar.com/gaming/xbox/the-next-gen-xbox-console-sounds-like-it-could-be-a-pc-hybrid-just-like-the-rumors-suggested-with-the-xbox-president-calling-it-a-very-premium-very-high-end-curated-experience Very interesting potential development that could certainly close the disparity between PC and Console users. Heck, if it's performance is on par with a gaming PC and it removes the "variables" of troubleshooting I may even consider one myself. Especially if it handles my peripherals and their drivers/apps now. I am sure there will be some who will snub this however I don't have the information to shoot it down so trying to keep an open mind! For now it's all speculative but very interesting to for MSFS users regardless. Edited October 28, 2025Oct 28 by psolk Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
October 28, 2025Oct 28 This just looks like Xbox is shifting more into providing 2 Xbox options, the ROG Ally and this higher spec xbox console. Based on the assuming pricing. Xbox is already a PC Hybrid, it runs a locked down version of windows. This announcement seems to be the same just better specs. Thus shifting more importance on the Rog ally since it has received very lukewarm reception because to be quite frank, its a lukewarm product.

I need to be able to operate OUTSIDE the constraints of Marketplace for example. If that's not feasible then it would absolutely be a no go for me but if they open it up a bit from an OS perspective as well that could be a game changer... Appreciate the feedback, definitely NOT my area of expertise! Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

As soon as you do that and open up the OS and give everyone the freedom to install whatever they like and configure it however they like then you lose the standardization that consoles are known for and it becomes impossible to support. That's why people like consoles - for the most part they're a known entity and they 'just work'. This is gone the minute you start making them too customizable and allow people to tweak. We have PCs for that. Here is someone who was on PC SIM for 20+ years, and now ~5 years (and still going) on Xbox MSFS (always thought, that thing was for my teen only...🙂...); early adaptor of both MSFS2020 and MSFS2024. I could surely do with a more powerful console than the Xbox Series X that I've now. I've no issues with PMDG 777 and iniBuilds A340/350 a/c and such, but the (streamed) scenery rendition is not as good (and consistent) as on PC... Of course, the quarantined nature of Xbox, with no access to Flightsim.to, and delayed product availabilities and updates are some of my main concerns, though PMDG and iniBuilds are (trying to) change that mindset...I think... We'll see.
