November 17, 2025Nov 17 Forever in MSFS I've been puzzled why it is in order to get the graphics of a HUD centered and showing correctly always ends up with a FOV that is much more zoomed out than it should be. It's not all bad because it gives a sense of speed while close to the ground, the zoomed out aspect, but then the FOV is very off. It seems like the HUD graphics need to be independently zoomable if you will but not seeing if that's an option. I'm referring to the HUD on Aerosoft CRJs, but I'm thinking I-Fly's MAX 8 is probably the same issue. So when setting cockpit views I always drop the HUD down and adjust zoom and eyepoints to get the HUD looking best. November 17, 2025Nov 17 I see you also have the PMDG 737-800. If you still have it installed, does it have the same FOV issue you describe? November 17, 2025Nov 17 Author Hi Luis, only using 2024 now and haven't tried PMDG 737 in it as I didn't think it was very compatible. Need to update my sig! November 18, 2025Nov 18 Because most people have too small monitor too far away for meet all 3 condition at once: 1. mathematically correct FOV 2.Correct seating position (This is the one need to have correct view for HUD) 3.see both outside and dashpanel. For me, I meet 1 and 2, then use both TrackIR to move head and also using 2nd monitor for pop-out panels. For Helos and Fighters, I just give up and use VR.

Well, that could be solved if plane devs added the ability to zoom only the HUD, or so it seems. Right now, it's either a correct FOV, or a useful HUD. Actually way back when, maybe the version just before FSX, one could zoom the external view independent of the external view of the plane which was a very cool feature but disappeared subsequently. This suggests to me it *should* b possible to zoom the GRAPHIC in the HUD independently. I'm certain because of this issue many 2D simmers end up with well zoomed out views of the external world cockpit windows.
