November 27, 2025Nov 27 Just wondering if there is anyone who has this monitor and what their opinions are of it for MSFS? November 27, 2025Nov 27 I have the 49" Neo G9 which is a 2k res variant and it's pretty cool but I rarely use it full screen in the sim. I would imagine with the 57" that you would need some pretty serious horsepower to get good frames out of it as well as trying to manage vram exhaustion being that it is 7680 x 2160. After running the 49 ultra wide for almost the past year, I wouldn't mind going back to a more normal ratio screen 16x9 or 16x10. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

Hey Dave, Sure, I understand the constraints by having a wider view as opposed to a 16:9. I run a pretty high end rig and if comnbined with frame gen, the size and resolution, I don't think would be a problem. Interesting to hear your thoughts, many thanks. EDIT: I understand the Samsung ultra wides have quite a pronounced curve, what are your thoughts on this. Does it show up with some degree of distortion? It definitely has more curve to it than I originally expected, but I wouldn't say that the distortion is overly noticeable. More than anything I'll notice it when say an ai 777-300ER (being so long and seemingly narrow) taxis by me depending on what my camera zoom is set at for that particular moment. But that is more a zoom issue than anything. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

December 1, 2025Dec 1 A smaller R number means more curvature of the screen. The human eye is 1000R which is a lot of curve. Small 32" 16:9 monitors means the image of the cockpit panel is much smaller than real life. Which is why the tapes are hard to read, they're too small compared to real life. A very large monitor removes that abnormal situation and brings the image on the screen more like what a human pilot's eye would see in real life. Curvature reduces distortion, but can cause mura . My two 32" 16:9 monitors joined together to make a double wide image, are 1800R (and I have no complaints, sitting 1.2 meters away). 1.8 meters is supposed be the maximum distance I could sit away. The R number is also the maximum distance in millimeters for best viewing. Big screens usually mean that you want to sit further back, like further than 1 meter from the screen. A 1000 R curved screen has a maximum viewing distance of 1 meter away, so you need to be close to it. So for big screens less curvature (higher R numbers) are better, so that you can get further away from the screen. https://www.viewsonic.com/library/entertainment/monitor-curvature-explained/#Monitor_Curvature_Ratings https://www.samsung.com/us/monitors/monitor-buying-guide/are-curved-monitors-better/#:~:text=It's measured by the R,1800R have a gentler curve. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
