December 13, 2025Dec 13 Fragging in Vietnam was not limited to Officers, NCOs were also targets. There was a culture problem between the Lifers (career soldiers) and the draftees. It all got down to respect. I spent time as an FO, artillery battery XO, and an aviation platoon leader (helicopter pilot). Show your fellow soldier (Officer or Enlisted) respect and being fragged will not be an issue. Just my opinion after two tours in Vietnam. I Earned My Spurs in Vietnam

I was the first sergeant of my outfit before I retired and taking care of your troops was your first duty. That didn't mean being over friendly to them but letting them know you had their back. I once went back to our office and noticed two of my troops were missing. I asked what happened to them. I was told a major came on got them. I knew the major and went to his office. He had my two troops on ladders painting his office. I told them to get down and go back to their own office. The major told them to stay where they were. So put on my first sergeant voice and told them to get back to their own unit and then said, "Major, nobody s++++s on my troops but me." The major said he'd have my stripes for that but I never heard another word about it. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
