I decided to deactivate OXR Toolkit and was curious to see what the FPS I got. Somehow the FPS display in Dev mode no longer show up in VR. Anyone has the similar problem? It must be due to SU4, I guess. 

Any other ways to display fps in VR? Pimax supposedly has a tool for this but I couldn't figure it where it is and whether it works for MSFS.

Thanks! I sheepishly re-activated the OXR Toolkit since its FOV crop gives me about another 5-10fps. Plus FFR, now I'm average 60fps when in and out the clouds flying Bonanza. My very first experience of 60fps in VR, can't complain.. 

BUT, isn't this also the perfect time to turn back on the ULTRA clouds to eat the extra 10fps I just gained ... 😀

Yes. But to be fair, the FOV crop is nearly impossible to notice in VR, but it reduces the total pixels for 5090 to push by probably ~ 30%. I turned crop off last night and I was convinced again that cropping FOV really has no downside as far as I could see.   

to my surprise, I found the same to be true for foveated rendering at 50%

Yes, I couldn't believe how hard I had to try to see the difference between FFR on and off. So FOV crop + FFR really help substantially for VR.

Well, it's against my principle that I should use minimal addons/extra layers of software/tweaks/etc. I was traumatized by the countless hours I spent on tweaking FSX/P3D/X-Plane, and want to have a fresh start with MSFS to spend max amount time flying, not tweaking... 

Having the toolkit "on" in the background won't affect performance at all, but I do get the want for using less apps. 

I still use it just fine regardless, it's still a very handy tool for me personally.

Pimax Play v1.43 Coming up

We will be introducing three new features:

• Utility Tool (FPS counter and CPU/GPU performance display)
• Eye-tracking Data Transmission (You no longer need eye-tracking plugins for software such as VRChat)
• FOV Adjustment (You can crop the FOV if you wish for performance gains)

 

 

just updated to Pimax Play version 1.43.3 and firmware update 1.0.19

so far so good.

I'm on v1.43 and but I just can't find this utility tool anywhere in the menu, maybe I missed sth.

As to the FOV adjustment, it's too limited. OXRToolkit is a lot more comprehensive and versatile.

I tried the FOV adjustment NORMAL/NARROW and did not observe any fps changes. 

except that the colours in MSFS are more vivid, no more stutters, ATC and AI traffic are fixed, everything looks so much better now with a reduced FOV 🤣

I saw you also enabled QuadView. Does it actually work with MSFS? I thought with FFR enabled in MSFS, QuadView in Pimax should be off?

1) not on purpose, 

2) don't even know what it is for

3) could very well be
