Another chess set.

We don't own this, but considering it. Prices came down a couple weeks ago. The "Lite" version has two "eyes" watching your every move. Cats would love to see something like that 😕Prices below are from Amazon USA.

This version is cheaper because the chess (or checkers if you want to play that) are disks and the android uses a magnet to move them. The more expensive version uses normal shaped pieces and it grabs them with its fingers on its hand. It needs the official pieces so that it knows how high the top of the pieces are in order to grab it by the top. Otherwise it's the same (I think). (The voice you hear is the robot speaking, not a person). Plays checkers (droughts) or Chess. $470 now, it used to be much higher $700

The Standard (not lite) version below with hands and fingers $700 now, it used to be $999. EDIT: It can play checkers/droughts or Chess.

There are two more robot versions, one that plays GO and one that plays Xiangqi, but the Xiangqi version is in Chinese, it can't speak or display English on the screen. The Standard and Lite Chess/Checkers versions, and the Go version, do speak English.

All of these have downloadable RAMs and claim forever updates are free. There's no subscription. The chess versions play online against real people if you want to do that instead (on Lichess, not on chess.com).

Needs Apple device, Mac Computer, or Android device to set up out of the box, but you don't need those to play against the robot offline after initial setup.

the App is SenseRobot, or for the game called Go it's SenseRobotGo.

GooglePlay says minimum OS required is Android version 7.

Apple App store says iOS 15.1.

I don't know about a Mac Computer required OS.

I'm considering the robot arm that Howard Wolowitz had on "The Big Bang Therory".  It would come in handy!
If you get my drift! 😵‍💫

For anyone with a beloved or expensive chess set that wants to go electronic, the answer is Certabo (in Italy). The start is a package of 32 discs that you attach to your favorite pieces. Then buy a Certabo brand electronic board and it recognizes the pieces. So the thing is modular.

Certabo is Windows or Mac. Computer, not phones. Although you can use a phone with their free app.

For anyone with figurative theme style chess sets with Kings about 2-3/4" t o 3-1/4", there is another chessboard with 1-5/8" squares which allows electronic play, learning, and provides opponents . With these smaller pieces, without altering the pieces. Is touch sensitive, not RF identified. You can therefore just press down on the squares with any chess piece of any kind.

I ordered it yesterday from a very reliable e commerce site called FactoryPure in Texas. Millennium King model 830. Made in Germany. Only  3 left in stock at  $390. You can't find this high quality board cheaper anywhere else. It's  $470 on Amazon.
