December 15, 2025Dec 15 We continue our tour across Africa. We depart from Benin's largest city, Cotonou (DBBB). We cross the border into Nigeria (often called the "Giant of Africa" for its large population and economy) and arrive in Lagos (DNMM). Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa (estimated at over 230 million). The country is a major global oil producer and Africa's largest economy (by nominal GDP). The economy is highly diversified, with significant sectors in finance, technology, entertainment (Nollywood), and agriculture. Lagos is a bustling, fast-paced megacity and the economic nerve centre of Nigeria and West Africa. It is the country's commercial and financial capital. Most major corporations and financial institutions have their headquarters here. We head northwest and land at Ibadan (DNIB). Historically, it was the largest city in West Africa by land mass and remains a major academic and cultural center. It is home to the prestigious University of Ibadan, Nigeria's oldest university. We continue northeast and arrive at Ilorin (DNIL). Ilorin serves as a cultural and geographical bridge between the South and the North of the country. We turn further northeast and land at Minna (DMNM). Minna is the administrative capital of Niger State, the largest state in Nigeria by area. It is a key administrative and transport junction with a key stop on the Western Railway Line, connecting Lagos, Ibadan, and Kaduna, and has an international airport. The city has a warm climate typical of central Nigeria. We finish the flight at Abudja (DNAA). Abuja is a planned city, centrally located, that was built in the 1980s to replace Lagos as the national capital. The town is known for its modern architecture, sweeping boulevards, and relatively low population density compared to Lagos. The flight is 390 miles long with 4 landings. We want to cruise at about 220 knots. I will be in the PC-12, please fly what you like. The flight plans are here. Additional scenery: DNMM DNIB DNAA We try real weather. Please set your simulator for an 8 am departure. Multiplayer Particulars: Date and time: Saturday, December 21, 2025. 1700 UTC Microsoft Flight Simulator Multiplayer: United States East server. These flights are events posted at DigitalThemePark and use DTP's Teamspeak Channel for communication. If you want to help others enjoy the multiplayer experience, don't forget to enter your aircraft details on the multiplayer spreadsheet (linked here). Your courtesy will save others a lot of time and effort. Thanks! Regards Gunter Schneider
December 15, 2025Dec 15 Interesting choice, I’ve been to Lagos and Ghana real world. KLM, armed guards boarded the plane first (this was back in the 1990s standard procedure) when we landed in Lagos. Ghana the aircraft (again KLM) parked way out on the tarmac and we walked to booths (customs again 1990s). Great choice, don’t get much 3rd party Africa airport coverage for MSFS.
