I believe I saw that change but, it didn't affect Addons Linker on my end, if that's what you're asking. i7-13700KF @ 5.3GHz 32.0GB DDR5 @ 5600 RTX 3080 65" LG OLED @ 4k
December 19, 2025Dec 19 Same here, it has not affected my addon-linker. I think that change by Asobo was made in either SU3 or one of the SU4 builds, can't remember. Maybe @Bad_T or someone else can shed some light on what it does, or if it has an effect on addon-linker. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

Hello 🍺 Not sure if something was changed about the localcache folder in SU4 but, for AL, it should be ok (i have the Steam version and Store folders are different, but i guess i would have had some feedback if something was changed and was not working anymore). @udidwht your 5 folders are correct, we all have those 5 folders in the 'packages' folder. The Community2024 folder has been added with SU4 but it's not really needed (MSFS2024 will still read addons in the 'Community' folder). Currently, AL uses only one destination folder for the linking process so the links are always created in the folder that you specify in the options screen and you can set only 1. If people see a benefit of being able to link to both folders, i'll investigate but, as long as it's not really required or requested, it will be a lot easier for me to keep only 1 linking folder 😉. @mikeymike you can change the package folder location directly inside the sim. You should find plenty of information about that by doing a little search. It's very ok to change it, a lot of people including me have changed the default location to not have those folders on the system drive. You should find that option by clicking on the little FS icon at the top of your simulator screen, then 'my library', then the little button on the rigtht of the search field and it will let you put a new location. If you use AL, make sure to update your new community folder location in the AL options screen. Edited December 20, 2025Dec 20 by Bad_T

December 20, 2025Dec 20 Author I was curious as to why no 'Packages' folder in the usual C location anymore with 2024. Also using 2020 and it still has that folder. That's unfortunate ... there is also a text file that you can change i think but well the UI option should be better. The file is UserCfg.opt (for Steam it's here -> C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 , probably different for the Store version which i don't have so not sure). At the bottom of the file you'll find an 'InstalledPackagesPath ' entry with the folder that should be used by the sim (that should be the folder tha contains the 5 subfolders). Maybe you can try this method to see if it helps. Edited December 20, 2025Dec 20 by Bad_T
