Around Manchester Barton EGCB

Featured Replies

Hi all,

here are a few around Manchester Barton in XP11, very good performance. The Manchester International last shots is the nice Xplane default, there is an addon available as well.

XP is like comfort food…🙂…for some of us in MSFS, worth going back from time to time. I wish I could say the same for my beloved FSX…🙂

Lovely set here. Liked the the pleasing touches of green in the landscape…

Cheers…!

Fine shots, altough i never used XP, to much to do with MSFS and that's enough for me..

cheers 😉

I've always been partial to EGCB. A very "Warbird-y" place with a great vibe!

I just recently retired XP v11 as v12 has become so good I barely touch it - even for my beloved TBM and 727 (particularly the new High Performance Beta 12.4b!

Xplane 12 is as up to date as msfs. I'm using Xplane 11 here because I always like to fly in the sim, it works extremly well.

It's also a question of older addons which are not ported to Xplane 12.

You have missed the best in flight simulation PM! 🙂

Yes, I will not do that because I have a lot of older addons which run perfect in XP 11 but not in XP 12.

And watch that they are still working on XP 12 at Laminar. As with version 12.3.3 there is still MSAA antialisiang used which is outdated.

Seems to be that they are now working on TAA and hopefully later on DSLL for RTX cards. I expect the sim to be finally perfect with

a patch number higher than 12.5.

Yep - my favorite is the long overdue Hot Start TBM, the FJS 727, and the excellent Flying Iron P-38.

but TBH, I actively fly in quite a few sims In addition XP and MSFS 2024. Like DCS World, IL2 Sturmovik, and until very recently, Prepar3D.

I’ve found that I just don’t have enough free time to consistently use them, and due to that, I can’t maintain the head space to keep them straight and stay on top of all the idiosyncrasies. Which ends up limiting my enjoyment, sadly.

so, despite having some favored addons that aren’t yet in the new sims, after a few recent flights in each, I’ve just decided to declutter. If they’re not in my hard drive, I can’t be tempted to mess about with updates, patches and tweaks, which only ends up wasting flight hours.

Coincidentally, that’s all come about just recently at the end of the year, so it seems fitting to streamline in preparation for 2026…

Further, the new XP 12.4 Beta is running so well for me (with such a DRASTIC increase in performance even with 3rd Party addons), that it’s basically a new/another sim for me now.

So it’s with not a few misgivings about “losing” favored addons, but some genuine relief that I’ve cleared off Prepar3D, MSFS 2020, and XP 11.

if nothing else, that’s given me a huge amount of additional SSD space to fill up with ortho and other scenery dedicated to my primary sims 😎🤙

With xplane you can fill a lot of space with orthos...🙂 The advantage to 2024 is that it also works offline...
