December 20, 2025Dec 20 I read that besides Pimax Play, is necesary to download also Steam VR or instead Pimax XR Runtime and Open XR Toolkit, are they really necesary ? And then the Steam version of Virtual Desktop should be an option also ? Thanks

Thanks Like all these things, there are a number of 'it depends' involved, based on what you are running already and what you want to run. But basically no - you do not need Steam VR or OpenXR Toolkit or Virtual Desktop to run the Pimax Crystal Light. Pimax XR is Pimax's default runtime and that will load when you load up Pimax Play. To run MSFS2020 and 2024, I just boot up Pimax Play and go flying 🙂 Ryzen 7 9800x3D @5.2GHz; ASUS X670-P Motherboard; nVidia 4080 (factory o/c); 32G 5600MHz DDR5 SDRAM; Pimax Crystal Light VR Headset; Quest 3 VR Headset
December 24, 2025Dec 24 What I like at combining with openxrtoolkit is the ability of reducing the image in the hmd to below 100% to gain sharpeness and fps at a small (for me not noticeable) FOV. I have reduced my view to at roughly 90% because I use prescription lenses and the thicker face pad at my Pimax Crystal super ...and therefore my fov is less....reducing it in openxrtoolkit brought me 8 to 9 fps back Regards, Marcus P.
December 28, 2025Dec 28 Author I guess that openxrtollkit feature is the only one which really diferences it from the actualized Pimax Play app.- I had being reading about the advantages of openxrtoolkit but most posts are not actualized, I think most of its features had been incorporated to Pimax Play on sucesive actualizations. Please correct me if I am wrong-
January 6Jan 6 openxrtollkit can show your fps in a small single number, like 45 or 29. It also opens automatically in the background when msfs is started. The only thing you notice with it on, is that number on the screen when a flight starts. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
