The new native 146 by Just Flight is £65 ($87 !!) on the Marketplace, where as it's £52 ($67) from Just Flight.

If a PS5 Pro (about $800) has decent hardware, comparable to a good PC (+$3000), the the price difference between the two can justify the higher prises off the addons I guess?

Yes, currently, pricing, performance, and MSFS ecosystem are among the factors to consider.

Personally, by 2028, I will consider what’s new and good in the console market, Xbox or PS5. Been on the PC for decades, my Xbox X journey over the last 5 years with MSFS has so far fit my lifestyle well...🙂

I never thought I would be flying the PMDG 737 and 777, so flawlessly in my Xbox.

Let’s see.

MSFS 2024 runs well on xbox series s. With all of the sim updates it runs great. Photogeometry runs well but the draw distance of large downtown skylines is significantly limited. However, i downloaded and installed world update Texas to my hardrive, and problem solved. The textures became super crisp, and draw distance significantly improved. I.e. Houston, Texas

I flew the blackbird T38 and SC designs F5, both had zero impact on frame rate. I flew the default 737, and i had zero black screen issues, i could tell it was a little more performance heavy, but not nearly that noticeable considering i was a habitual FSX player. My only bum moment was that pulling up the ATC menu does cause the game to lag for a small second, but you can minimize the menu rather than closing it each time. So assuming MS continues to make sim update improvements, i could only imagine the performance getting better. Any review on youtube demonstrating the series s is severely outdated, as it now runs very well. Obviously series X  or PS5 is better, but if you ball on a budget, go with series s.

But in short, the ability to download and install scenery to your hard drive is a game changer. I took but three seconds to contemplate deleting msfs 2020. Sincerely, a xbox series S user.

edit: +1 for sam scenes scenery, greatly improved draw distance. Can see downtown Houston from almost the bay.

Good reading about your experience...

It's a bit of a sensitive subject around here...🙂...but you may be the only 2nd "confirmed" Xbox user I'm aware of here, yours truly included.

5 years ago, I started on Xbox S in MSFS2020. One fine morning, unexpectedly, I found MSFS2020 installed overnight, and ready to go on Game pass, w/o my knowledge. Since then, my teen has given his Xbox X for my use, knowing that MSFS is a bit more demanding than the other (non-pilotage) stuff on Xbox.

Apart from the well-known limitations of the Xbox ecosystem, I would agree, that there is not much difference between S and X, at least, in my experience.

However, individual user experience may vary, of course.
