Touch screen monitor for a MCDU

Featured Replies

So I am in the market for a touch screen so I can use air manager to simulate the MCDU in the FSS ERJ. 30 years with MSFS flying GA I figure its time to enjoy some commercial flying 😀. My question is what size touch screen would be realistic for a MCDU. 8 inch perhaps or bigger? Will also buy a 16 or 18 for the ERJ overhead panel but thats a different story. Thank you so much for any advise.

I use a Galaxy Tab A7 Lite - bought it cheap on Amazon last Christmas and it works great with AviaCDU with the PMDG, iFly, Maddog, CRJ etc. It's a perfect size - large enough to see clearly with keys big enough to not fat-finger the wrong ones, but small enough to sit on a little stand below my monitor. I used to use my phone but the CDU is so small that it's hard to hit the right keys.

Of course an iPad works well for CDU also, but they're expensive.

Of course none of these options will work unless Air Manager has a server for sending wireless to a tablet.

I use a 7 inch HDMI/USB touch screen connected to PC directly for all kinds of FMC/CDU/MCDU, it's about half the size of real thing on Boeing/Airbus but still works great to me. And as it require no web connection, it's reliable and can be use in many different configurations

Cost me about 250 RMB years ago, about 40USD
