Red Wing Constellation in MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

you can't really set the autopilot but it mostly works and there is a update being worked on.  I used to live on Whidbey Island in 1978 dad was stationed on the Navy base there.  I loved it back then.

I loved flying A2A's Constellation.  Is this Connie on a par with A2A's?

Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.

I think so I really like it. Maybe others can chime in.

Lovely set of Connie images, Todd.

My parents actually flew on one of the Flying Tiger Line's Constellations to Germany around 1961 or so. One of them crashed in the Atlantic making the same flight I think in 1963 there is a book written about it I have it somewhere.

Fine shots, well done and a superb AC !

cheers 😉

No! Far from it. The engines, mainly props control are too high as far as I remember. Textures are cartoonish. There is no update since a long time as they seem happy with that!

Very interesting…

I found this in the Wiki “ Flying Tiger Line Flight 923”. Could it be this one you’re referring to?
It was flying from the McGuire Air Force Base (NJ) to an Air Base in West Germany, in September 1962 (an L-1049H Super Constellation).

Yes I think so I read the book ages ago and Im so thankful my parents were on a different flight same route though. One day I want to recreate that flight in MSFS. Mom didn't enjoy riding in the Connie she said it was bumpy and scared her. My flights on C130s were often that way.

Oh the book is called Tiger In The Sea its really good the author tells the story with survivor accounts. I'm thinking about reading it again its on one of my kindle.

Dad was a Marine and got an accompanied tour to Germany. They flew from NJ also the exact same route as the one that crashed. Ill have to ask dad when they flew I think it was earlier my older brother was born in Germany. So they were there in 1962.

I was out for grocery just now, and the local Half Price Books Store reseller was just next door…🙂…so, I picked up a (used) copy of the hardcover edition…

Will read it…

Nice! I just flew the MATS Connie from Unalaska to Adak. We almost had to move to ADAK in 1980, sometimes I wish we would have gone but the place is desolate. I'm always interested in Adak though, but I doubt I ever go there not much on the Island since the base closed.
