Thinking about xplane again

Its fantastic so far.  And wow, the weather and lighting has come so far since I last used xp in v11.  Been reading up on some of the v12 blog posts regarding the flight model improvements they made, very detailed and impressive stuff.  I think the fact that the xp devs are rw pilots really gives xp a stong advantage in terms of its flight model.  I may be spending a lot more time on this sim than I thought!  If they can get dlss working and get the night lighting a little bit better xp will be unstoppable.

And more is comming, as Austin just told me in some messages we exchanged. More details and fine tuning of the flight dynamics 🙂

That bug/feature I sometimes refer to as "right rolling bug" but should actually better be called "reverse rolling bug" is probably actually a feature that Austin tried to model in more detail and has been causing some weird effects specially on twins/ multiporops.

This has long been internally fixed, probably by March 2025 as Austin told me back then, but didn't find it's way into the betas because it will come, together with other fixes and additional features in 12.5 !!!

I look forward into it, and I am sure it will make Xp12 even better.

I also already dream about the upcoming new "scenery engine". I really don't guess if it'll be introduced, even if partially, already along the Xp12 life cycle, or just with Xp13 or whatever new version will be the next version of X-Plane.

I am ready to continue to support X-Plane for as long as I can, being it the business model it has been, or any form of subscription-based solution. Whatever they want, provided they continue to support their users and the developers like they are again along Xp12. I feel Xp12 really brought New Life to X-Plane, to the LR team which has grown substantially in number and proficiency of their members, and that results in the acceptance the platform still has, and will surely continue to have among simmers who aren't just satisfied by "the looks", but really want "the feels", consistency,  and details of flight and systems as well as weather modelling 🙂

It sounds like a bright future for xp for sure.  For now having map enhancement is great until the new scenery solution is implemented. Right now the new weather system and its effects on the aircraft, combined with the improved flight physics really give xp a huge leg up.  Dangerous Weather, realistic thunderstorms, turbulence and realistic icing is something that the competition is sorely lacking at the moment.
