January 23Jan 23 I've used the Marketplace in FS20, but this is my first attempt in MSFS2024. I'm trying to buy Flight Replicas' newly released DH Rapide. After clicking on 'Buy' I get the spinning white circle 'Please Wait' and nothing else. I then have to use Task Manager to exit MSFS2024. I have the Steam version of the sim, and I have Steam Overlay enabled. Anyone having similar problems, or able to help me, please ? Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

January 23Jan 23 Author @Jack_Sawyer thanks for that - it may come in very useful in the future. 👍 I've fixed my problem, but for the record, if anyone searches this forum with the same issue... I'm aware that Steam Overlay has to be enabled for MSFS Marketplace, and therefore it was turned on in Steam's general settings. I thought it turned on Overlay for all the games in my Steam account, but it doesn't. There is another Steam Overlay switch in each game's Properties - and that was turned off. Once turned on, everything was fine. Just for reference, as I say. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

I'm glad, meanwhile, you've sorted out the issue with your Steam Overlay Settings. Enjoy that classic biplane in MSFS...known to us since the Dave Garwood times...🙂...of our earlier SIMs ...! I might get this Flight Replicas version myself...

Glad you're enjoying this DH.89 Dragon Rapide by Flight Replicas, in MSFS2024. You probably know, but Dave Garwood's (original) FSX DH.89 was also converted for MSFS2020. Jan Kees, in the Screenshots Forum, was flying it with his own repaints (link to one of his posts below). It still looked beautiful after so many years...🙂...in MSFS...For nostalgia, I've also included below the link from the (local) Avsim Library for Dave Garwood's original (FS9) DH89 submission from 20 years ago...in 2005...a timeless piece of freeware contribution for a timeless (British) classic...🙂...
January 24Jan 24 Author Yes, I had Dave's Rapide in MSFS2020, and in FSX. He did a lot of great models, including the Auster Autocrat and the Beaufighter, but the Rapide was always my favourite of his. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org
January 24Jan 24 Can you give your thoughts on it please Paul. If they fix up the sim for me in SU5 I might consider purchasing this along with the T-38. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio. Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's. Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Hi Rob - first impressions are excellent, though there are a few little bugs at present. For example, there are no click spots on the autopilot, the pilot/passenger visibility switches don't work yet, and the engine sound has a bass hum which rattles the fillings loose a little, so I keep the volume turned well down. On the plus side - this is definitely the Rapide we want. It flies beautifully and is very draggy as you would expect, so slowing down for approach is easy. The ground handling is excellent, with only a slight swing when the tail comes up. Landing her is a doddle - no worries there. I've only ever flown in a Rapide as a passenger ( obviously ), but it just feels right for an aircraft of that design and vintage. It's modelled superbly inside and out, as you would expect with a Flight Replicas release. As for the bugs, Mike is a dependable developer, and he'll soon have things ironed out. 👍 Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org

Just for info, I contacted Mike at Flight Replicas about the bugs I mentioned above, and he is unable to replicate them - all is well at his end. He has suggested waiting a day or two in case it is a streaming problem - which it could well be, as I've come across that problem before. I still thoroughly recommend the aircraft, of course. Yes, this may be a possibility as two of the recent YouTube reviewers have had different experiences, with buttons / switches working for one reviewer, but not the other for example. Thanks Rob, I'll search those YTs out. I've tried just about everything today, but still the bugs persist. Still a beauty to fly, of course, but the bugs are puzzling me. Thanks Rob, very helpful. 👍 From posts at Sim Outhouse, it seems I'm not the only one with the issues, but I must reiterate: the Flight Replica's gorgeous Rapide is fully flyable as-is, and from experience, I know Mike will get to the bottom of problems. It might simply be some process running on the computer that's at fault. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org
