Hardware Upgrade for MSFS 2024

Featured Replies

My specs are in my signature.  What would I expect to gain in 2024 if I upgraded from a 3080TI to a 5070TI?  I fly primarily airliners (Fenix) and have my settings at high/ultra.  I don't fly in 4k nor do I use VR.  Currently, I get brief stutters turning on the ground and on final into 3rd party airports (i don't fly in our out of default).  I use Active Sky, Rex Atmos, PSXT w/ Real Traffic.  Would I notice any difference and if so, what would that be?  Thanks!

What signature?

Forever indebted to the late Michael Greenblatt of FSGS.

If your CPU and RAM aren’t a bottleneck then, you’d get about 20% (ish) increase and you’ll also have the option to use fake frames (DLSS/FG) if that’s a route you want to go.  So what is your resolution and what value do you have Render Scaling at?

Render scaling is 100 and my resolution is native 5120x1440 on a 49 inch ultra wide.  I’ve never messed with those settings so maybe that would be a change I can make for a smoother sim

No, increasing Render Scaling will definitely NOT make a smoother sim, even more so at 5120 x 1440.  You increase Render Scaling if you are bothered by AA (jagged lines) issues.

You could get yourself a copy of lossless scaling first (10$ on Steam) and see if you are happy with frame generation at all. If the visual artefacts do not bother you that much, you will have a huge gain switching from a 3080ti to a 5070ti because of the multi frame generation possibility. If visual artefacts DO bother you, the improvements would be so minor I personally would not spend that much money on it.

Personally, for me, frame generation is THE feature that allowed using MSFS2024 (and 2020 before) on a smoothness level I never had before. I easily take those artefacts as small trade off.
