February 4Feb 4 Hello, I have a problem with my MSFS2024. When I start my simulator, I can do everything as usual, I can start flights, etc., but after a certain amount of time (e.g., ~1 hour), I hear a crash sound and my entire system freezes (i.e., the image freezes) and I can't move the cursor or anything else. I looked at the crash report and it says: [OnCrash] Msg="GPU Device Removed" [Platform] CmdLine=[] [Engine] ReportVersion=10 I assume it's a problem with the graphics card (GPU), but the question is, what exactly could the problem be? What I have already done: - Completely reinstalled Msfs2024 - Reinstalled graphics card drivers or tried older versions - Added the following files to the Windows Registry Editor (TdrDelay, TdrLevel) - Changed the clock frequencies of my GPU.... My specs: - Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB VRAM - AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3D - MSI MPG b850 edge wifi TI (motherboard) - 32GB DDR5 Ram Corsair 6000 MHZ (approx. 28 GB of which is used in the game)
February 4Feb 4 Oh well, was about to say that apologies for stopping by and grabbing your GFX card but who wants a 7900… just kidding of course. And not able to help as I would have suggested to basically do the steps you did. Yet, - „Crash Sound“ in terms of actual physical sound (like GPU fan blocked)? Or just windows chime? - Any AMD GPU Software installed which boosts GPU clock? Like overclock utility which kicks in next to the driver you updated? - Does it happen only with FS2024 or other GPU heavy applications/games if any? - Any other recent changes of your HW setup? Maybe the Power Supply is either too weak or just too old? just some ideas so others can chime in who are more knowledgeable than I am Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
February 4Feb 4 With such an error msg. I'd look for a: - electrical issue (cable/connector/fans/PSU) - heat issue first. 'It is better to be silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.'
February 4Feb 4 Author Hello, first of all, thank you for your reply. Yes, the crash sound is just a Windows error sound, I think... The GPU is not overclocked; I just set the clock speed manually to 2500. And yes, I didn't have these problems before I switched from my AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D to the 7 9800x3D + new motherboard. I'll have to test the power supply. Thanks for now :) The voltages should also be suitable; my system draws approx. 600 watts at maximum collars and I have a 1000-watt power supply. Temperatures should also be suitable.
February 4Feb 4 Good luck then! Maybe try to run 2024 with lower GFX settings? Though I wouldn‘t really know what it meant if the crash occurred then again or not ;-). I would expect that with lower settings the GPU may either run less hot or power consumption is lower - but who am I to tell 🙂 Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
February 4Feb 4 I seem to remember sometime ago some people were having issues with USB devices causing problems due to them entering a power saving mode after a while. Maybe worth checking and disabling?
February 5Feb 5 This sounds like a power supply issue or an overheating isssue. I would try running some benchmarks on loop. Like 3Dmark. See if that triggers a similar crash and then see what the system data was. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
February 5Feb 5 Also check the card itself. The power cable to the card - make sure it’s properly seated etc. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen
