February 5Feb 5 I have the above installed and despite trawling the web and following numerous YouTube tutorials on mapping to my Velocity One Flightstick I cannot get the Lateral or Longitudinal trim to function. As per all the instructions, even Cowasim Manuals say map to the pov up/down/left/right hatswitch. it works on all the other helicopters?? Anyone got this working or am I missing something
February 5Feb 5 You need to go to their discord. You will get help there for sure. The developer is very active there Juan Ramos
February 5Feb 5 I don't know if this is what you need, but to get the helicopter trim assist functions to work in the R66 and 500E (I don't know about the H125, I haven't flown it in awhile), you need to turn on (push) the SAS button, usually located on the center console. You may need to push the stick to one side to see it. When off, it's plain white, when on, the button glows green. It also seems to dampen some of the CS helicopters' twitchier movements. I think most of the CS helicopters have this now. I hope that helps. PS: this is for 2024; I don't know if 2020 CS helicopters have the SAS button or not. Edited February 5Feb 5 by BBCM
February 5Feb 5 Yes, the H125 has the SAS system (it's at the bottom of the front panel). There's also altitude hold and heading hold buttons. I think the SAS is CS's attempt to provide a simple auto pilot for helicopters, although I've never found any documentation for it.
February 5Feb 5 With the Cowan H125, if you don't engage SAS then you won't have trim in the way that you may be thinking of. It does have force trim, which basically sets wherever the stick is at as the new centre position. The way you use it is you have to bind Force Trim Reset. When your stick is at a position you're happy with, push and hold that button, recenter the stick then let go. That position is now the centre of your stick. Takes a lot of getting used to and I still get it wrong after a bunch of practice. If you've flown the Huey in DCS it's very similar. If you engage SAS then it's a different matter, and you have trim back. To be honest, it's the first heli I've flown with SAS so I'm never sure if it's something you're supposed to have on before take off or not. I treat it like AP in a fixed wing. Manual for SAS is here: https://cowansim.com/wp-content/uploads/SAS-Autopilot-Manual.pdf
February 5Feb 5 Thank you Georgleboui for the link to the SAS manual, and the explanation! I've just been messing with the SAS on a trial and error basis.
