I am using X-Plane mobile on my iphone. I use Apple TV to use X-Plane mobile on my TV. I am also using an Xbox controller. Surprisingly it is lots of fun. The software is well executed. 

My question is that no where in the settings do I see a setup screen for customizing button assignments on my Xbox controller. Am I missing something or does this option not exist?

I am not sure if many people on here can answer that, as most are likely dedicated simulator users that would rather chop of their pinky finger than use an XBox controller or use X-Plane mobile, let alone both together 🤣.

I played with it a few times, but yeah, never found it to my liking enough to bother. I’d rather read a POH when I’m away from desktop 😁

BUT, hasn’t mSparks asserted that XP Mobile actually wildly popular…?

It is probably a scale thing.

How many people own a smartphone capable of running X-Plane mobile in a satisfying way?

How much money do you have to spend to buy either?

Just for Android it says "10+ Million downloads", for Apple it says "Over 1 million downloads". This is likely accumulated for "since X-Plane mobile came out", so the current user base is unlikely 11 million users.

How you define "wildly popular" is likely varying from person to person. According to unverified internet data, roughly 5 billion people use smartphones these days, so 10 million downloads means that 1 person out of 500 has downloaded it (0.2%). I don´t know if "downloaded" equals "bought", but I doubt it. So an adoption rate after the initial test of maybe 1% would further wittle the "wildly popular" statement down into the "barely anyone uses it" region, let alone "how many use it regularly today".

Then again, if you make 5$ from every sale, even 10 million meager sales can be nice 😄.

The only reason I bought X-Plane mobile was for travelling. I have stayed in many hotels that either have Apple TV or TVs with screen mirroring. So I just throw an Xbox controller into the suitcase to get a flight sim hit, when I am on the road. I know some flight simmers have a gaming laptop and bring the peripherals with them. That to me is over the top.

X-Plane mobile is kind of wild. For those that don't know about X-Plane mobile, this is what you can play on your phone or tablet (and navigraph works on it!!):

Alanw2005, I carried with me a gaming laptop for the last 15 years of my career. Kept me sane when away from home for occasionally months at a time (forest fire suppression pilot). Spent a lot of money on good powerful machines but they were worth every cent. Helped  me wind down from challenging stressful days.

I have tried X-plane mobile and indeed bought it  but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I like the idea of it though for those who enjoy it.
