Black square caravan. Coming from airliners

Featured Replies

Are there any good sources or videos out there that really help someone understand a turboprop like the caravan? The only turboprop I've tried in flight sim was the majestic Q400 and that was ages ago. Obviously for one, the caravan doesn't have an APU😁

Download the manual from Just flight and read it.

Starting a 208 is typically easier than starting a complex GA single haha.

It's like 4 or 5 steps then poof the engine is running.

Top of my head (but grab the manual for an official checklist).

Condition Lever (typically red) idle cutoff

Battery on

Beacon on(or strobes if only equipped)

Fuel selectors on (overhead panel) to silence the batter master alarm

Ignition on

Starter move to start or on

At like 15-17% ng, move fuel cutoff to low idle.  Once the engine is started turn off starter.  You can do taxiing or any ground ops in low idle.  But high idle for takeoff.

Then just turn on your avionics or generators.

Fuel pump to ON for start then NORM after it reaches idle.
