Hi all

I have MSFS2024 and would like to have a ATC programme that works over a network.

1/   My understanding is I can install Pilot2atc on a separate computer connected to the same network.  I will need to have FSCUIP 7 (free version) on the flight sim computer and widefs7 ( pay-were version? I think its called that) on the network PC.   Basically, nothing new to install on the msfs2024 pc but  Widefs7 and Pilot2atc on the network pc.

2/ The reason I want to install pilot2atc over the network is so that my flight sim screen is not cluttered.

3/ I don’t feel I want to use the microphone and voice recognition at present.  I feel I would like to use the mouse and or keyboard on the second PC to work Pilot2atc.  Is this feasible?

4/ I use Air manager on the second PC so I guess my network is working fine.

5/ Is there any thing else I need to be aware of?

Thanks in advance if you can help.

Best wishes.

This thread goes deep into Networked setups and how to address all the issues, like sharing the Mouse and even Sound across 2 PCs.

Another, simpler option to avoid clutter is to just add another monitor to your PC and move P2A to it.  You can even pick up an inexpensive touchscreen monitor and then use most functions in P2A using it like an EFB with your finger/touch.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

Currently I don’t have the space for another monitor so that suggestion will not work.

I have read the mentioned thread which is where I got me idea from.

The second PC is already set up with its own keyboard mouse speakers etc all in easy reach of the main flight sim PC so in my mind there is no reason for these to be shared with the main flight sim PC

I guess I just need some sort of reassurance that what I think will work is likely to work before I make the purchase of Widefs7.  I do appreciate the generous 2 week  trial period that Pilot2atc offers but a a pensioner on a fixed income I am a little reluctant to spend the money on Widefs7 and find it will not work.

Thanks again if you can help.

Best wishes.

WideFS should allow you to get P2A to "see" the SIM through FSUIPC7, so the SIM events will fire and P2A will be able to function normally.  The sharing of things like Mouse and sound are the only things that require additional work and/or software.

Hi

Thanks for your help.

On the strength of this I will give it a try.

Best wishes.

The configuration you're describing is how I run it--P2ATC on a laptop with WideClient linked to MSFS 20/24 running FSUIPC7+WideFS (payware versions) on the sim machine.

One potential gotcha--you do still have to have a microphone available on the P2ATC machine for the program to run, even if you only use the "SayIt" menu interface.  Any el-cheapo $5 special or the integrated mic on a laptop works to satisfy the program.

The ATC sounds will come from the P2ATC machine, so it needs to have a sound system robust enough to compete with the sim.  It also lends itself well to wearing headphones, as the ATC is not mixed with the acft/environment sounds, as in the real world.

Hi

Thanks for the reply and help so far.

So:

1/ I already have msfs 2024 and the freeware version of FSUIPC running on the msfs2024 machine. (I use FSUIPC for a pilots live V2)

2/ my understanding was I now need only to install Pilot2ATC and WideFS (Pay-were) on the second PC?

3/ What is WideClient?

4/ I am a little confused when you say " P2ATC on a laptop with WideClient linked to MSFS 20/24 running FSUIPC7+WideFS (payware versions) on the sim machine."

From your description looks as though I need to install WideFS onto the MSFS2024 PC?  Then Pilot2ATC and WideClient on the second PC?.

I did guess I may need to have a microphone on the second PC (even though I don’t at the moment intend to use the microphone.  I think I would rather interact with Pilot2atc via the mouse and keyboard on the second PC)

The second PC is a old but fairly powerful intel I7 with a Nvidia1080 32 gig ram and a solid speakers, so I am confident this will run pilot2atc OK, its just where I need to install WideFS etc.

Can you confirm where I need to install WideFS (I thought it needed to be installed on the second PC)

and what is the WideClient?

Thanks in advance if you can help.

Best wishes.

Bob

When you buy WideFS (which also requires the full payware version of FSUIPC), it enables the WideFS server feature of FSUIPC (no separate install--the separate WideFS license key activates the LAN connectivity functionality already built-in to FSUIPC).  That runs on the sim machine, aka the "server".

WideFS includes a program called WideClient that is installed on one or more client (remote) PCs.  When you run WideClient on the remote(s), it communicates over the LAN to MSFS via FSUIPC on the "server", and it presents the same locally-accessible FSUIPC interface on the client machine that a program would see if it were running on the sim PC with MSFS+FSUIPC.

Hi

Thank you very much for the detailed response.

I understand it now.

Best wishes.
