AI calling for pushback even when turned off

Featured Replies

Does anyone know why the AI copilot assistance would be calling for pushback even when I have confirmed that I have the AI Assistance turned off? I for the life of me cannot figure this out. Ever since SU5, every single aircraft that can be pushed back that I have tried, the AI will get on the radio and call for pushback no matter what I do.

I have Googled this issue over and over, and there is nothing current related to my issue.

Why do you write here? I'll never understand posts like yours; " I have an issue"  -  "Found a solution!"  - but I won't tell you ...

If anyone wants to know, all they have to do is ask politely 😊 And to be honest, I didn't think anyone was interested since no one responded (helpfully) in the first place.

I got the same problem so I'm interested, do you mind sharing your findings.

Would love to!

In my case, the problem was self-induced. Mind you, I had dug into MSFS 2024 settings over and over ensuring I didn't miss some hard-to-find AI radio setting or some such. But I had everything set right. Then I scrubbed all my button and key bindings, seeing if I had inadvertently assigned "toggle pushback" to a control or something. Nope, that was not the case either. I use Chaseplane, FSRealistic and FlowPro, so I next looked into all of those to make sure there was not some hidden pushback setting. Nope, not that I could find. Then, taking a break from investigating, I conducted a sim flight. During my cruise phase (I was in the Blacksquare Caravan, not that it matters) I happened to open the MSFS ATC chat window and I noticed that my request for a touch and go was approved. What the....I didn't request any such thing. I don't even use the in-sim ATC except maybe to check weather now and then. But somehow, I had hit the key to request a touch and go. Then it hit me. I use all the number keys on my keyboard to assign my more common Chaseplane views. I forgot that the default MSFS keyboard profile has most of the number keys assigned to select options in the ATC window. The number 1 key is what I assign to my main pilot view, and the 2 and 3 keys are usually side panels and a zoomed in look on the instruments. I use those three view keybinds a lot. So, apparently, that is how I have been unknowingly requesting pushback, through the ATC window, even with AI Communications turned off, and not having the ATC window open. I don't use the MSFS ATC system at all, but there is no way to turn it off. All you can do is turn the volume down, which is what I did. So, I was not hearing that I was accidentally making these requests through the MSFS ATC system every time I hit the number keys for my views.

I haven't encountered this situation sooner, because I used to assign all my views to various buttons on my controllers. But, I have rearranged my desk lately, and my keyboard is now better suited for this task, so that is why it was a situation created by me. Once I went in and unassigned those keybinds from selecting ATC options, all was good. No more mysterious pushbacks.

Hopefully something in my information can help you solve your problem 😊

It has and what a coincidence, I use the same apps, and same keys for chaseplane views. Thanks for taking the time to share and explain in such detail.
