New computer

Featured Replies

Recently bought a new desktop with the following: Ryzen 9 9900X 12 core processor, 64gb RAM, Radeon RX 9070 XT (16gb) GPU

I downloaded the store version and did the Deluxe and Premium updates. But now when I try to load the program I get the opening screen and about 8-10 seconds it turns black

and sticks there.

I'm wondering if when I downloaded the AMD Adrenalin software there was something I didn't do, or is this something else?

I have looked all over the internet but all I get from all the suggestions is more confused. Can anyone help me?

Sorry, I have the MSFS 2020.

I haven't used MSFS 2020 for almost 2 years, but the last time I had a stuck black screen, this fixed it :-

It can be caused by a broken cloud save on your account. Especially where you have taken a break and not used the sim for a period of time. When you reinstall and load, there's an old 'cloud save' that breaks things.

Worth a try. Also make sure your Community folder is empty, when trying to get the sim running for the first time.

Thanks JYW 😄. I should have also said I am using Windows 11 and there is no Cortana search box that I can find. My Community folder is empty.

With a new computer that has a dedicated GPU and a built-in graphics card in the CPU, it's always worth to double-check your monitor cable (DisplayPort or HDMI) is really connected to the discrete GPU and not to the mainboard.

This may lead to the symptoms you described, and it's easy to test.

Hey pstrub, thank you! That's what is was! I didn't even notice the direct GPU hookup when I originally plugged everything in, and I missed it.

What a relief! Now this should run the way it's supposed to.

Great to be of help! And I was worried that my suggestion might disappoint you because it might not have worked...

Anyway, I'd be happy to hear from you about your first experience with flying on the new system!
