Boris Soundworks 737... Unsure!

Featured Replies

I purchased the Brois soundpack for the PMDG 738 some time ago in 2020 and loved it. However, having now moved across to FS24, I installed the newly released version for 24. I have to say, and I maybe on my own here, but I am a little disappointed. The sounds of the switches are almost indistinguishable and the overall cockpit, ambient noise during flight, I find overly loud. Which is what I liked about the previous version, the flight deck was quieter than the PMDG default sounds. This may be or may not be true to life, but it's just my preference. Does anyone else share my experience? Also, is there a way of maybe tweaking any of the sounds, or are the sound files inaccessible?

I really like the new sounds in the MSFS 2024 version of the PMDG 737, so I have no interest in purchasing the Boris Audioworks sound package for this aircraft. I do have the Boris Audioworks sound set for the PMDG 777F, and this is a significant improvement on the existing sounds. However, some of the switch clicks are really faint and hard to hear. Nowhere near as satisfying as the PMDG switch click sounds in the 737. This is why I am very interested in the upcoming PMDG sound improvement package for the 777.

Hey Christopher, maybe I'll follow your lead and revisit the default sounds in the 738. Will try that later, cheers.

You're not alone.

I find it disappointing too (certainly compared to the 2020 version). I think, in the name of realism, all of the switch sounds were turned down to 'what they'd sound like in the real world'. But I loved my high fidelity 'clunk' sounds and, as you suggested, IMHO the pack now doesn't particularly stand out. It's not just switch sounds either. The A/C and analogue gyro sounds are now thin and very quiet. I'm not keen on the headset simulation effect either. I feel the same about Boris's 777 (GE) sound pack too. I've uninstalled the 737 pack but the 777 pack is still much better than PMDG's current 777 sounds. Everything else by Boris, I love. Particularly the GA sound packs.
