July 28Jul 28 From your point of view, is there any reason to get a monitor with high refresh rates (120 Hz o rmore) for MSFS2024? This is considering I lock my framerate to 118 FPS (in RTSS), but with 4x framegen, this means my native framerate is just 29.5 FPS.Reason: as mentioned in other threads, I want to upgrade my 1080p 144 Hz monitor (Viewsonic VX2458-MHD) to 1440p, and found an interesting deal on a IPS one, but its refresh rate is just 75 Hz. Would I be missing anything in particular? I only use flight simulators (FS9/FSX/P3D/MSFS2024) in my rig. Running FS9 there .VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/mobile.
July 29Jul 29 My UW runs nominally at 100Hz. I have my settings in '24 set at Half refresh rate (turned on VSync, set to half and then turned VSync off again), FSR3 @2x, nVidia Reflex low latency at On+Boost which means that my monitor is actually running at 50Hz (if I am understanding it correctly).As my machine isn't anywhere near "top of the line" I have turned down a number of settings in Global Rendering Quality without any real effects on the quality of the image, use AutoFPS and I am consistently seeing 70fps even with 'heavy' addons at 'heavy' airports.High refresh rates are important when playing fast paced action games but given the relatively glacial speeds at which the sim runs in comparison I have felt no overwhelming urge to dig deep into my wallet for a high refresh rate screen.As always, YMMV. Before Steam Lossless Scaling came along I set the max frame rate to 30 externally with VSync enabled.After getting LS I turned off VSync and set a max fps of 29 in RTSS. With a x2 acceleration in LS I now get 58fps. But that isn’t a “natural” frame rate of course. It remains at 29.I think you’ll be fine providing you turn off VSync and keep the fps below 75.You’ll get fewer artefacts at x2 than x4. I have to look hard to see any now.
