It certainly seems to be the fix. I was having issues with the Fenix being pushed back all over the airfield but this setting seems to have stopped that behaviour. A note: I use FSLTL traffic and found that firing up FSHUD before allowing FSLTL to inject traffic into the sim blocked FSLTL from injecting any traffic whatsoever. So in my case I have to start FSLTL first, let it do its magic and then start FSHUD.

I've had endless back and forths with ChatGPT when trying to troubleshoot an issue I was having with MSFS2024. It kept referring me to the store version and I had to constantly remind it I have the steam version. That happened three times and by the fourth my patience ran out, I added a couple of expletives and it promised me it would note it down and not repeat the same mistake. Long story short and half a day wasted by the LLM dragging me down various rabbit holes to no avail I finally remembered an addition that the Map Enhancement programme made to my hosts file. Simply deleting that solved my problem. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I never take ChatGPT or any AI at face value. In our case at least (simmers) it tends to overthink things so keeping a firm rein on it helps a lot.

I think you'll find a sizeable number of us old codgers creaking their way around the flightsim skies. Personally, I am a sucker for knowledge and have found this hobby (as an aviation geek) to be a huge source of fascinating insights by the actual active and retired real world flight crew sharing their knowledge and insights with us. Multiplayer is something that has not tickled my curiosity (apart from the occasional VATSIM/IVAO event) as I am mostly focused on the tubeliner aspect of the sim plus the fact that our time difference with the rest of the world makes it difficult to connect. Since you're in Canada I'm sure you'll have an easy time finding like-minded simmers in your time zone. 73 and counting.

Bang for buck (between the nVidia offerings) the 5070Ti is the winner. However, if money isn't a limiting factor, I'd go with the 5080. Can't advise re the AMD cards as I do not have personal experience with them.

Too bad the hardware (PC) aspect of the hobby in general, is a train wreck, price-wise.

Not much help from me but I had to repair/re-install MSFS24 as well. I've found that not all add-ons behave correctly when asked to work with the the re-installed version of the sim so have accepted the fact that it is best to start from scratch with those. Yes, it is a nuisance but it's a guaranteed way of knowing that things will work as they should. I have the Steam version of the sim. As for Reshade I don't have much set up in it apart from the "show/hide" key and the "enable/disable effect" key. I just downloaded and installed the blurry glass cockpit fix (haven't tested yet) but when firing up Reshade it showed that that fix had been applied. Very straightforward.

It is supposed to be a halo project. Have they done enough towards that end? I'm not sure.

Far too complex a topic that requires constant back and forth to explain. Coming from 2020 I, too, was leery of how I would manage with the controls set up in '24 but, after watching a number of YT uploads and using chatGPT (invaluable but needs prodding and do NOT accept everything it tells you as the gospel truth), have more or less understood how '24 works. Try a 'msfs2024 controls set up' search in YT (perhaps narrow it down to your hardware) and go through the list. There's one by AirborneGeek and one by Huddison that helped me a lot. It's a step-by-step process so my advice is don't rush it. Best of luck, mate!

My UW runs nominally at 100Hz. I have my settings in '24 set at Half refresh rate (turned on VSync, set to half and then turned VSync off again), FSR3 @2x, nVidia Reflex low latency at On+Boost which means that my monitor is actually running at 50Hz (if I am understanding it correctly). As my machine isn't anywhere near "top of the line" I have turned down a number of settings in Global Rendering Quality without any real effects on the quality of the image, use AutoFPS and I am consistently seeing 70fps even with 'heavy' addons at 'heavy' airports. High refresh rates are important when playing fast paced action games but given the relatively glacial speeds at which the sim runs in comparison I have felt no overwhelming urge to dig deep into my wallet for a high refresh rate screen. As always, YMMV.

Can someone please tell me how I can turn off the dirge that is the intro music while the sim loads? I have tried turning the Music volume down to zero in the Controls menu but it has had no effect.

I took advantage of the discount that Steam had and installed '24. It seems to be as stable as '20 and I seem to be getting a smoother flying experience overall. My tipping point was reading about GSX's roadmap and how development would continue for '24 as it offered a better path forward. If Virtuali, who has been incredible in providing continuity and updates with no charge to the customer, is stating that development for MSFS2020 is becoming an issue and most devs stating outright that they will not be including '20 in their plans, that was my trigger.

Do any of you dinosaurs remember the Infocom series of games? To me they still are a monumental achievement combining books with technology. They stimulated the imagination and built worlds in one's mind, just as books do, they were educational and extremely satisfying when you solved one of the many, many puzzles thrown in. Not to mention the genius packaging of the games (yes, physical boxes filled with all sorts of goodies that pertained to each game/book). I use FSHud but since FSLTL was revived by Navigraph I've had no use for the subscription.

Like a champ. Caveat: Experiment with your settings in the sim. Everything on ultra is bound to cause issues. I also found using AutoFPS to be hugely beneficial.

Tried right-clicking on the blank icon, Properties ->Change Icon? You will need Admin permissions and may have to do it a couple of times for it to stick.

Never regretted switching to an UW 34" (2K) from my older 27" 1080p. Immediate and apparent difference. Budget-friendly too!👍
